Bystolic 10mg For Blood Pressure
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I recently went to fill my rx at my local pharmacy. I was told that bystolic would not be in until the end of the month because it was being repackage for 90 day supplies. I have already paid for a 90 day supply at the cost of $113.00 and the pharmacist suggested that I go with the 5mg for now and take two of these to make the 10 mg. This will Now cost me another $80.00. I am not going to do this. I really like the bystolic. It does well for me but I cannot afford this. I should not have to pay for your untimely mistake. I was never notified that all of this was going to take place. How do you suggest I solve this problem? I cannot go without a blood pressure pill until the end of the month.

I have been out of my Bystolic now for 2 days... How long does it last in my system and should I be concerned about it? My pharmacist will be getting me some by Sunday.

I suggest you call or write the president of ACTAVIS about his PROBLEM. This should not be your problem or the pharmacy. They cant make 20 MG so they should supply 2-10s instead at no cost. 2-10 only contain the same medical ingredients as one 20 and cant cost them more to mfg..

i had my doctor write the prescription for 2 x 10mg per day and they filled it immediately with no problem and at the same price i was paying for the 20mg's. if you are getting up-charges you should call your insurance company and also call Actavis about their patient assistance program at: 800-851-0758 (actavis.com/products/patient-assistance-program).

I only mentioned medications that one could ask their doctor about, if they've not already tried them.

I do not prescribe medications or tell anyone what is right or wrong for them to take, especially since I don't know what you have or haven't already tried and the problems you may have had with them.

Only your doctor can help you decide what's safest for you to try, if anything.

I don't even try to do that and I'm sorry that some of you were upset thinking that's what I intended.

I'm very sensitive to medications, as well, so I can't imagine ever taking something on the suggestion of a random stranger online. You should never take anything, unless your doctor prescribes it and approves.

Has anyone been able to get their Bystolic filled, yet?

Back in December 2014 when I first ran into supply issues with the 20mg Bystolic I heard that they would be available in about a month. Still not available. I guess a month has not yet gone by since December? (An Irish month, perhaps?) : )

Bystolic was recalled in 2014 when it was manufactured by Forest *then* it was sold to Actavis. An Actavis rep told me that Bystolic 20 mg would likely be back in production within the next month or two. They said that all other dosages were available.

RE: "Hello, Stephanie and Charlie! How are you both? Sorry about the issue you've run into.

The only other alternative I can think of would be asking your respective doctors to prescribe a different medication. There are many other blood pressure/cardiac medications that you can take, many available as fairly inexpensive generics.

If you do well with Bystolic, which is listed by the FDA as containing Nebivolol, you may also do well similar medications in the same drug class, such as Propranolol, Metoprolol, or Labetalol. Typical side effects are listed as including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, dry cough and hypotension.

Is there anything else I can help with?"

Are you a medical professional, Verwon? If not, please do not make suggestions regarding drugs. Thank you

verwon... the drugs you mentioned as alternatives to bystolic are NOT the same. i have tried most of them and had horrendous side effects. they almost killed me, i was just short of comatose. just because you can read doesn't mean you can recommend substitute prescriptions. in real life they just do not work. bystolic is the only one i can tolerate. we need a real solution not a sideline guesser.

I was taking 20mg Bystolic, two a day. My mail-order provider, after contacting my physician, instead sent 10mg; again a 90 day supply at four a day. My cost more than doubled. After complaining to the mail-order provider I was given a credit which brought my cost in line with the 20mg tablets. When I needed a refill I ordered online the 20mg tablets. I was again sent 10mg and after complaining was denied a credit. Actavis, the provider of Bystolic, bought the previous provider, Forest in 2014. Forest never had a supply issue, why Actavis? This is purposely a money grab. Forest was a US company, Actavis is in Ireland.

It seems the manufacturer of Bystolic is exploiting a real revenue opportunity at their patients expense. Cost of the 5, 10, and 20 mg tables are all about the same as of about 5 months ago. I am on 20 mg tablets. So now I have been told the manufacturer is dropping manufacturing of the 20 mg pill which means I must now buy twice as many 10 mg pills to fill the same need at basically twice the cost. My pharmacy ran me some numbers and at 20 mg pills (if they were available) the cost would be just over $300.00, but using 10 mg pills the cost is over $600 for the same mg prescription.

Dropping the 20 mg pills is not for medical reasons but a revenue generation reason. They drop the 20 mg pill at the expense of their customer base and double their revenue stream. It is very obvious who's interest they have in mind. I will be looking for alternative medications.
