Butrans Patch

I read the reviews and I question if they were written by the manufacturer. I was on Butrans. Started on 10 mg and was eventually switched to 20 mg. When I was switched to 20, at least noticed it did something. I was miserable. I had been on hydrocodone and Opana and I was switched to Butrans by pain management dr. I kept begging to be switched back to anything I had been on because Butrans just didn't cut into the pain. I was not given anything for breakthrough pain (I have switched doctors since). Anyway, it was very mild and had serious side effect of depression and I believe some weight gain. Would not recommend it to anyone in chronic severe pain. Had same problem as others in that it does not last for 7 days. I changed doctors and was put on combo of Oxycontin, Nucynta and Tramadol. Finally, I could breathe again! I am grateful because I can be pain free but now I battle with the side effect of being slowed down--sleepy, sluggish, etc.

Butrans contains the active ingredient Buprenorphine, it is an opiate narcotic, but just like any other medication, it is not effective for everyone.

As I'm sure you're aware, the way you are feeling now is normal, when you are using narcotic medications. Have you consulted your doctor about it, though? A slight dosage adjustment in something may help.
