Bupropion Xl By Cipla Pharmaceuticals (Page 2)

My pharmacy has been giving me refills of the generic bupropion for my last two refills that are manufactured by CIPLA. The pill is oblong and has the number 13 on one side and what appears to be a capital I on the other side. I do not feel that this generic is doing much for me. I have researched this manufacture they are located in India. Approximately 45% of the medications that are sold in the United States are manufactured in foreign countries. I am going to call my pharmacy to see if they can get one of the generics that were previously dispensed to me. The buyers for drugs at pharmacies look to find lower priced drugs, which I understand.

I have been taking Wellbutrin XL 150 mg three tablets daily for about eight years including the generic form. This medication helped my severe depression. I have tried many other families of antidepressant medications that did not work or caused side effects. The cost for the brand Wellbutrin XL continued to increase because of big Pharma greed (a discussion for another time). Eventually I had to go to the generic Wellbutrin because of the cost and my insurance would not pay for brand or my copay was too much.

When I could no longer work because of my Multiple Sclerosis and another incurable gene mutation condition I eventually received Medicare. I continued to take generic bupropion XL because I had no choice. Various generics of this medication have been dispensed to me for a number of years. The generics have never been a good as the brand Wellbutrin. For those of you that may not be aware a study was done that proved there was a difference between the brand and the generic. The main factor is that generic Wellbutrin XL rises quickly in your bloodstream then drops. The brand Wellbutrin rises up in your blood stream then goes down over a number of hours.

Perhaps for some people the generic form of Wellbutrin works okay for them. In generic medications different fillers are used and the percentage of the main ingredient can be less or higher on either side of the main ingredient. I know a pharmacist that explained this to me that confirmed my suspicions. I take other medications that are generic that seem to do okay. Nevertheless, I firmly believe that certain medications such as antidepressants, seizure medications to include some others should not be propped up as being a bioequivalent.

GO to pillbox.nlm.nih.gov as this link will ask you for the description/or medication name. I put in the MEDICATION NAME ONLY on the right side of the "form". I uncheck the "do not search for repackaged or relabelled" choice. THEN HIT SEARCH... you will get a lot of pictures of particular medications in that class, i.e., Wellbutrin is Bupropion Hydrochloride. I look up and down the page for the 150/300 XL as this is the one that I take. When I find the particular dose, I hit the "show more information" button to see fillers and such.

THE IMPORTANT THING TO CHECK IS THE DRUG LABEL INFORMATION. THIS CHOICE WILL BRING UP "LABELS" FROM THE MAKER/DISTRIBUTOR/MANUFACTURER. I will no longer get any drugs from China or India or a third world manufacturer, (other than Germany or strict control countries). If the "label" does not say "manufactured in US or Canada", then it is made god knows where and distributed in the US by the company shown on the label. COMPANIES HAVE DRUGS MADE IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES AND DISTRIBUTE IN THE US., however, I PERSONALLY LOVE APOTEX IN CANADA., AND MYLAN-LOOSE PILLS/PREPAK. Cipla, I believe is made in Peurto Rico? Not sure.

I signed up for notifications at FDA.GOV regarding drug recalls. THE FDA DID A 3 YEAR STUDY AND DECIDED TO LET FOREIGN DRUG MANUFACTURERS POLICE THEMSELVES as to the quality controls of their medicines. Well, I know the FDA cannot be everywhere and cannot "search the quality" of all drugs entering the US, therefore, BE VIGILANT FOR YOUR OWN SAKE. When Walgreens would not fill an RX for my daughter for sertraline with a US/canadian company, I went too a local pharmacy and they had no problem "special ordering" the med for me. I PUT IT ON MY RECORDS AT WALGREENS THAT I WANT NO FOREIGN MANUFACTURED DRUGS OTHER THAN USA OR CANADA, I DO GET SPECIAL ORDERED MEDS AT WALGREENS, BUT, THEY WILL/CANNOT ORDER FOR EVERYTHING. I WILL GO SOMEWHERE ELSE IF I CANNOT GET DECENT MEDS AT WALGREENS. Good Luck to You! Hope this helps!

FYI --on my bottle it says Manufacturer: CIPLA, USA Inc. Not sure if that means it is manufactured in the USA.

After being on generic buproprion 300 mg xl by Sandoz for many years my pharmacy dispensed Actavis generic. I didn't want to take it, but had run out and that's all they had. What a mistake. It took a few days for me to feel the difference, then I was energetic and active in the am, afternoon and evening were hellish depression, in bed with covers over my head. That continued until the last week of the supply when my symptoms shifted to a high that I had never had before. I was singing loudly and wound up tight, plus so active. I have fibromyalgia and and spinal stenosis. I live with chronic pain and severe fatigue, sleeping far too much. I was thrilled to have some energy and be able to get stuff done, but knew that the Actavis was messing me up when the last two days in it I started to hear thing, like voices from a radio or tv, but they weren't turned on. Now I have a new supply by Par from a different pharmacy. They told me they had Mylan generic, but when I got there nope it was Par. Its very disturbiby that the pharmacies are calling the shots on our generics. Every pharmacy I called said they can only get what their warehouse has. One offered to order me the Mylan but cautioned me they couldn't promise it every month. WTF this is our brain they are messing with ! I totally agree that antidepressants and seizure generic meds should face a more rigorous approval process. I'm at a loss as to how I can obtain the generics my body is used to having. BTW no one could order the Sandoz, not available. Most all pharmacies sticking the three cheapest generics, Actavis, Cipla and Impact ? I also take Pristiq 50mg and cymbals and still suffer major depression.

Wow, I started on the Cipla brand of 300/150s last year and it coincides with IBS symptoms that I have never had before. So now I am on a med for that. Is there a correlation. I have taken Welbutrin for 15 years and have taken the Teva generics and the brand and never had side effects, now I am jittery and have intestinal difficulties. Did not get the correlation before I read all of this.

I have taken Bupropion HCL XL 300 mg for several yrs. I recently refilled my prescription and got them mfg by a company called Cipla. I have been taking for only a few days but I am severely depressed, cant function, crying all the time and suicidal thoughts. CVS told me this is the only manufacturer that they are buying now. Tomorrow I will shop for another pharmacist that buys from Par.

OMG I have been on a generic, zydus, for years with little to no issues. Since January I have gained a significant amount of weight, am tired, depressed and have skin issues. I vaguely recalled that walgreens said they were switching manufacturers and sure enough it was in January to actavis. the only thing I can find locally is the Par....anyone have any positive feedback on that one?

Generic Wellbutrin works but the initial side effects are more intense and last longer.

I'm currently on brand Wellbutrin xl 300 mg. my insurance pays $1600 for a month's supply. my copay is $50 it's worth it. i'm losing weight really fast. i've quit smoking too! i've lost 10 lbs. in 3 weeks and the only exercise i do is that i walk 50 minutes each day.

CIGNA home delivery has the par 300 mg, however the 150 mg is Lupin, which I believe is screwing me up. I've been taking 450 mg for sometime successfully and didn't even realize they were different manufacturers. Now I wish I'd saved all my bottles but apparently I've been taking the par for a long time because that's what the pharmacist told me on the phone. I believe that this lupin 150 is responsible for sudden suicidal thoughts and up-and-down emotions and I'll kinds of crazy things.

This is a follow up to my June 2017 post. I suffered all summer after the generic for my Wellbutrin xl 300 mg. by Sandoz became unavailable. I tried 2 other generics, one made me have auditory hallucinations and the other just did nothing. At the same time Pristiq 50 mg which I also take went generic, it was terrible. I was severely depressed all summer and somewhat suicidal. I finally went out of country to get name brand Wellbutrin being made with original formula in Canada. Within 3 days of taking it I felt so much better. I then tried the Pristiq from the same pharmacy and felt even better. Finally, I filled my Cymbalta prescription through them as well. I feel the best I have in 25 years! I am a new person. I wake up every morning in a good, positive mood and am motivated to do things, instead of sleeping and not even being able to shower. Please be aware and vote against any legislation that may prohibit us from filling prescriptions from out of the country. If the US can't properly regulate these generics and allow us access to meds we need, legislators should not prohibit us from finding the quality where we can. While I resent having an RX insurance that I'm unable to use, my brain is worth the $$. P.S. generic Klonopin sucks as well, never as strong as the original name brand, have to take more to obtain the same effect.

I have been taking ACTAVIS bupropion 300 XL and have been having problems with racing heartbeat, high blood pressure and nightmares. I thought they were from the VYBRIID I started recently. I had not associated those with the ACTAVIS until I started researching PAR Bupropion Xl since that is what they will be sending me. Just happened to find these are reported side effects with ACTAVIS bupropion 300 XL.

If anyone is able to obtain name brand Wellbutrin 300 mg or the Par generic that's great. I took the Sandoz generic for years, now realize I was only getting a bit of a dose (see my previous posts). I am at peace and depression better now than in 20 yrs, getting my meds from Canada. I pay around $30 mo, ordering a 90 dy supply. That is less than I paid for name brand with insurance as it was always a higher tier level. I cannot begin to say how horrible these cheap generics are, at least for mood meds.

I was recently prescribed an anti depressant. Silly me, I didn't recognize I was that bad off. I did Lexapro for 5 weeks, it did nothing except make me a non-orgasmic, non-stop eating machine. No thanks. Next was prescribed Wellbutrin XL 150mg, received Bupropion XL manufactured by Cipla out of India. Of course it didn't state that on the label, but I googled its image. In case anyone needs to know, it is white, oblong with an I on one side and a 13 on the other. The first 2 days were fine, a little central nervous system uptick, but that was to be expected. On the 3rd day, approx. 2 hours after taking, a headache developed, I felt like I needed to vomit, I couldn't think straight, zero ability to focus and loss of short term memory. I felt completely out of touch with my mind and body and was grateful, when approx. 10 hours later, all side effects subsided except the headache. I was back, I could think again! Head-ache? I can handle that! Then I crashed, like I had come down from speed and could hardly stay awake. As I work the swing shift, this was a problem as I still had 3 hours yet to go. I slept great that night and woke up feeling good, not even a headache! Took the Cipla again and 2 hours later, I had the same exact side effects except they were amplified, I could barely function! Somehow managed to get to work and had the same crash after the effects wore off, except this time, the side effects took longer to wear off. When I awoke the next day, I felt like I was hung-over, nauseated, headache, etc. That was it, I was done. Found out pharmacies love dishing out Cipla as it is so cheap and they make lots of money off it. I called CVS and demanded another brand, so they are going to give me PAR, of course on my dime. Now I'm afraid to even try the PAR, very disillusioned with the pharmaceutical greed and may choose to remain depressed than put my body through this again.

I realize you wrote this post awhile ago but I have a question can you tell me what generics did work for you because recently when I picked up prescriptions they had no more of one of the generics I've taken which is Actavis I don't know that it's helping me at all either and now they've given me the cipla and I'm a little disturbed about it.
If anyone else wants to try and please do I'm finding myself extremely depressed and I don't like it my pills are the generic ER extended release I think it says Sr / ER

I became brave again and started on the Parr XL March 30th. It has worked wonders, I dropped 10 lbs, which was a good thing! I have lots of energy and am once again my optimistic self.
