Buprop 24 Versus Wellbutrin Xl

I'm wondering if anyone has switched from the brand wellbutrin to the generic buprop 24 and has noticed a difference. It seems to me that my depression is returning on the generic - or is it just my imagination?

No, it is not likely just your imagination.

There can be fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient between the name brand and the generic. The FDA does allow them to differ by as much as plus, or minus 20%. For most people, these differences aren't significant and don't cause any problems.

However, if you have been taking the brand name for a long time, or a sensitive to medications, then any slight variation may cause you some problems.

Have you discussed the issue with your doctor?

You might want to have them write your prescription as 'brand medically necessary', or try a different medication.
