There is no medication that is completely safe, they all carry the risk of side effects and possibly causing some serious health problems.
Butalbital is a Barbituate, often used to treat sleep problems and sometimes combined with other medications for severe migraines.
As such, it carries the risk of addiction when it is used long-term.
Side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, euphoria and sedation.
