Hi. I am writing this message in regards to the bruises that appear on my hand and leg after taking certain heart medicine. My mom is an open heart surgery patient with a pacemaker on it for the past 35 years and currently she is taking ...1) Acitrom 1mg, 2) Torget 5, 3) Star press XL 25, 4) Lanoxin, 5) Cordarone. Could it be the side effect of all these medications or is it a side effect of Acitrom 1mg tablet? We have consulted her heart Doctor and keep saying it is due to medicine but did not give us any preventive measures. Are there any preventive measures for these bruises? My mom is age 60. Your prompt responses will be highly appreciated.

Yes, many heart and blood pressure medications can cause increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising as side effects, according to NIH reports. She may also experience increased urination, headache, and hypotension.

There is really no preventative, other than being careful not to bang herself against something to cause the bruising.

Is she experiencing any other symptoms?
