Bruised Shoulder And Potential Tissue Damage From Aspirin?

I'm 70 years old and fell off a chair 7 days ago. Now I have a huge bruise over my abdomen. My Dr said it's probably tissue damage. I'm in agony. I think my collarbone may be broke. Why he didn't ask for an x-ray? Any clues appreciated. I'm also on Aspirin daily. Could that cause extreme bruising?

It's all just so typical here in Australia. I ended up seeing another dr who told me to get an x-ray. My dr was wrong. 2 fractures in my collarbone!! And they give me Panadol and Ibuprofen; both of which you can buy in the grocery store and do nothing for pain. Omg. Thanks for your replies!!

If you’re able, go to urgent care. They can handle a lot of stuff with less than 1/2 the waiting time of an ER. Make really sure your insurance will cover an urgent care visit, before you go. Do not go to a stand-alone ER. Their pricing is horrendous. You really should get checked out for this. I’m glad you’re not settling for the off-hand response of your doc.

Yes, Aspirin thins your blood, which could make you bruise easier, or worse than usual, the FDA also warns about other side effects that may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach irritation.

As to the x-ray, did you specifically tell him that you were having pain in the collar bone area? Have you tried going to an ER for an evaluation, and x-ray?
