I recently had an emergency reaction to Brintellix. The active ingredient is Vortioxetine and it has 532 known drugs that if taken at the same time will cause serotonin syndrome. In my case i had withdrawals changing from one med to another, so i was give an anti-nausea tablet. It turned out this was one of the meds that clashes with Vortioxetine. It is now clear to me that little is known in the Dr community regarding this drug.

Hi Simon,

Sorry to hear about your severe reaction to Brintellix. I agree with you wholeheartedly that our doctors should be taught much more about these types of medications & interactions in school. Unfortunately, this level of education is handed down to pharmacists instead of the physician who prescribes us something for a very specific reason. So without that knowledge, we are literally gambling with our health & well-being at the expense of someone who doesn't know what they're doing even though we're "supposed to" trust them because they have "MD" after their name. I could go on and on about my distaste for the current medical system that's in place. However, I'm in the US and depending on your location, things may be entirely different. I just hope you've managed to make a full recovery from whatever ailments or challenges you were faced with.
