Breakthrough Bleeding

I used to take Low-Ogestrel as my birth control but then switched to the Brazilian equivalent of Femodene (it is called Diminut there but the hormone levels are the same as that of Femodene). I had no problems with my first pack, but towards the end of my second pack I started to experience breakthrough bleeding. It was light at first, but now I am almost halfway through my third pack and the bleeding is daily, continuous, and heavy. It is not a red flow but very dark and viscous. I do not know what to do to make it stop. It seemed to stop for a day after my actual period during the inactive time but then it started again and got worse. Should I stop taking this birth control?

Have you consulted your doctor? The pharmacist may be right that this is just not the right combination for you, it may also not be the right dosage.
I understand the frustration, years ago, when I first started them, after having my son, it also took me several tries to find the right combination that worked for me, however, there are many on the market that you can try.

I am having the same problem with breakthrough bleeding taking Low-Ogestrel, and I have had the same problem with the last three birth control pills I have tried. My pharmacist said that it might be the receptors in the drug are not the right type for my body (progesterone vs. some of the other kinds), so my body isn't getting the signal to not bleed. But she also said it might just be that I can't skip periods and need to have a few days on the inactive pills. The whole process is frustrating.
