Brain Zaps

My brain zaps started out two years ago when I was taken to the emergency room for a severe migraine and a kidney infection. I was given a shot of Toradol and immediately knew I'd been given too much. Within a week, I started experiencing cranial zaps that escalated in numbers and would hit at any given time with no particular trigger. My doctor dismissed these as not real and put me on 40mg Citalopram. The zaps continued so I went to a neurologist, was diagnosed with slight swelling in my brain and put on 3400mg daily of Gabapentin. The combination of both medications did stop the zaps for a short period of about two months but they came back. So it was back to the doctors for help but all they wanted to do was keep raising my doses of medication which I firmly believe was making me worse. I have been off of both for almost four months now. I quit cold turkey with the WORST withdrawal symptoms EVER. The brain zaps have returned with an intensity over the last week and seem to be getting worse. I'm terrified of chemicals now and only use fish oil, b-12, and potassium to help with neuro health.

Hello, Katharine! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problems that you're having.

What exactly are you describing as 'brain zaps'? It's really not a medical term and the symptoms can vary from person to person, so I really can't make any suggests or anything, without knowing more details.
