Blue Vs Green Clonazepam... Plz Help Me To Know The Better Of The Two? (Page 6)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

Hello all, I usually am given the GREEN #98 833 1mg clonazepam, but when I filled px today, she gave me the BLUE v2531 1mg clonazepam. Could someone please let me know which are known to be better?

Thanks

The differences between meds here in the US, and the ones overseas never cease to amaze me. But I've been on 1mg for years. Given to me by my regular primary physician. At first I was getting the green ones, and definitely noticed myself building a tolerance, then all of a sudden this Obamacare nonsense has changed the way doctors and insurance companies are allowed to care for their patients. When I went to get my meds this month the pharmacy told me that my insurance company switched which generics they give and mine will now be coming from a different manufacturer. So they are the same dose, but blue pills instead of green ones. Well I only happened upon this thread because I was looking for answers about whether or not I could actually feel a difference between the two. I'm glad I'm not the only person who says they feel one more strongly than the other. For a couple days I thought I was crazy. But taking 1mg twice a day is a very common dosage here in the states. The green ones I felt were no longer working. And after a few years on them I was almost about to ask him to up my dose thinking I'd built a tolerance. Once I tried these blue ones it felt like he already had upped the dose. But nope still 1mg pills. Which I found very confusing. But hey, if it means not having to up my dosage yet, then I'll take it. But those ones with the "K" shaped hole in the middle are not generally seen much here in the states either. For as many years as I've been on these, and known others taking them as well, I've never seen a person given these. Not even in hospitals. Its common practice here to give generics whenever possible, and if you are requesting the non generic name brand of a medication in most states your doctor has to specify that on your prescription and then justify that to your insurance company. Its all about what's cost effective, and not generally what's best for patients.

They are the same thing, neither is better than the other although after being on them for 6 years, I prefer the blue ones because I let them melt under my tounge and the blue ones melt faster. Blue and green are the same things though. Hope that helps your question!

Dear SarahDeep, I'm on the 1mg of klonopin and they r green. I've been on them 4 almost 10 years now. Same dosage and color. Maybe, they gave u a different generic and that's why they look different. Sometimes, they will do that if they can't get the brand they usually get. Or, they switch companies.

The blue ones suck!!! They never work for me. Green ones are always on point. I think the blue ones have so much filler in them bc they are big for 1mg. Request the green ones

Personally I have never heard of clonazepam being dispensed in a unit of 1mg; neither have I heard of or seen this drug in any other colours than peach or white.
I have been prescribed clonazepam for some years and, here in the UK, it is generally dispensed as the Roche brand, Rivotril, by far the most prescribed brand or generic in the world. I am on 2mg tds, reduced four months ago from qds. Other than the white 2mg tablets there are only the peach 500mcg strength. I am pretty sure that there is only one generic in the UK, by Auden Mackenzie, and their tablets, like those made by Galenika in Serbia, look almost exactly the same as the brand name Rivotril - white with a cross-score on the reverse. While Galenika & Mackenzie's tablets carry the strength only on the obverse, the brand has 'ROCHE 0.5' or '.2.' - the dots are to distinguish that face from 2mg Valium, which has no dots before and after the '2' & only a single score on the reverse.

I have only ever met one person prescribed 1mg as a unit dose, for which he would take 2 x 500mcg tabs. I am familiar with most of Europe and feel confident in saying there are no 1mg tablets of clonazepam available; certainly they are NOT made by Roche. As for colour, I HAVE seen an alternative to the white 2mg - light yellow 2mg CLONOTRIL by Torrent of India, a dispersible and fast acting clonazepam known as 'Bananatrils' on account of their distinctive flavour. They are also of excellent quality, as good as the Roche & Galenika products. Surely there can't be much call for 1mg clonazepam tablets? It isn't a strength that doctors would often consider, and, as I said, I've only ever heard of ONE person who was ever prescribed that odd in-between dosage. Is that the USA where 1mg tabs are made? I would imagine so; that's where most of the unusual strengths and combinations originate. Interesting. Yet it's also a country where ESSENTIAL meds, which it would be unthinkable anywhere else to deny doctors and patients, have been deemed to have NO MEDICAL USE and therefore scheduled I. I refer in particular to the analgesics Diconala (dipipanone) & H (diamorphine), which most docs would consider unthinkable not to carry at all times, being probably those with the most essential medical use of all!

Yet millions of prescriptions are issued for hydrocodone, a weak opioid antitussive made into a weak opioid analgesic by adding paracetamol (acetaminophen in the US) & sold at prices which can only be described as extortionate. Sorry. As you may be aware, I don't often get carried away but I was on a roll there and couldn't help myself... Anyway, 1mg certainly is a mild dose of clonazepam, especially as in my case where it's prescribed both as indicated and 'off-label' as a prophylaxis for panic disorder. My doc would prefer to script phenytoin, but thete is no denying clonazepam has powerful anti panic properties, whatever colour it is. You know, I'd LOVE to try the ones with the K shaped hole in them, if only one box, just for novelty value. Any idea how I could get those in the UK or would I have to come to a private arrangement and just swap with somebody over there? Min, getting carried away, but serious about the odd 'holey' pills!

What you really have to do is try them and see if one works better for you.

While they are technically the same medication in the same dosage, there can be fluctuations, however, what causes problems for some people might work great for you and vice-versa.
