Yes It's from the U.S. it is a diphenhydramine. Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine used to relieve allergic rhinitis (seasonal allergy) symptoms including sneezing, runny nose, itching, and watery eyes and to relieve itching and swelling associated with uncomplicated allergic skin reactions. It is also used as a short-term sleep aid, to control coughs due to colds or allergy, and to prevent/treat motion sickness. Diphenhydramine is available in nonprescription products alone and in combination with other nonprescription drugs, to treat symptoms of allergy, colds, and upper respiratory infections. The specific one your referring to I know for 100% is a shop rite brand because I use them myself. Though to be on the safe side I would never ever use any drug (OTC, PRESCRIBED or HOMEOPATHIC) unless I purchased and opened it myself. Never take a prescription drug that is not prescribed for you.

Hello,

The closest match I've been able to find is Diphenhydramine hydrochloride (25 mg); which is a pink oval pill with the imprint 25 052. I'm guessing this is the prescription -non OTC version.

Manufacturer: AAA Pharmaceutical, Inc.

Diphenhydramine belongs to the drug classes anticholinergic antiemetics, anticholinergic antiparkinson agents, antihistamines, miscellaneous anxiolytics, sedatives and hypnotics. It is used in the treatment of insomnia, cough, nausea/vomiting, motion sickness, cold symptoms, and more.

Side effects of Diphenhydramine include:

Profound drowsiness, along with the possibilities of motor impairment, dry mouth and throat, flushed skin, rapid or irregular heartbeat, blurred vision at nearpoint owing to lack of accommodation, abnormal sensitivity to bright light, pupil dilation, and urinary retention.

NOTE: "MGiakoumakis" is definitely correct when saying you should NEVER take a prescription medication that was not prescribed for you.

You can learn more about this drug on the page for Diphenhydramine Details

I hope this helps!
