Blue Fluoxetine Agony

After three highly painful acid in the throat episodes, including a trip to the emergency room, I found this site and realized the problem. Three doctors and one pharmacist had never heard of the problem. Bless you Dr. Google! The Blue pills should be reserved for torture purposes only.

It is amazing that people are complaining about the different types of generic, Prozac. I know the generic, fluoxetine, is made by many drug manufacturers. The generic brand, depending on the manufacturers that make or provide, fluoxetine, do not seem to work well for some people, while the other people using the same type of generic fluoxetine works great. I know I am one of those people. I just read that one person cannot stand the blue generic fluoxetine made by NorthStar, but the 40mg blue generic made by NorthStar works wonders for me, and others, as well. I know because I called NorthStar manufactuer, and other people miss the generic fluoxetine made by NorthStar. Now I am only talking about myself, but some of my friends, also, miss NorthStar's generic version of Prozac.

I just read, I know at least one individual, that cannot tolerate the NorthStar brand, and I feel sure other people would say the exact same about not being able to tolerate NorthStar brand. But, others take fluoxetine made by many drug manufactures that like or dislike that generic fluoxetine that is made by another manufacturer. Yes, I hear a lot about people complainIng about the different types of fluoxetine that do not work or may help a little bit..., but not like the older types of generic fluoxetine, that seemed to work fine, 10 years ago. Prozac has always worked for me, alone. And, the other SSRIs, I cannot take at all.

I'm having the same problem with my clonazepam, and other people are, too. The same goes for many varieties of generic medications. The same generic medication may not work for many people who, have these medications for a long period of time. And, not all generic brands are even close to being addictive medications. I was never addicted to clonazepam or built any type of tolerance to the drug. It worked the same for 10 years, until, they somehow changed to a different type of generic clonazepam, that does not work at all.

Many people are upset over the change in how their medications work. The drug manufacturers should alleviate this very generic problem.

Hello, Ken! How are you doing?

I can't really say much about that particular tablet, since you didn't say who the manufacturer was or what the imprint was, but the inactive ingredients can vary from one generic to another, so one of them could be what caused your problem. Would seem that you're sensitive to something and it causes a lot of excess acid.

Through testing I've determined that the heartburn is caused by the capsules, not the drug itself. When transferring the drug from the original capsule into an empty "vegetarian grade" empty capsule the heartburn does not occur. This leads me to believe that there are certain ingredients used in the capsules which are not well digested. They use gelatin capsules with dye and it may well be that the combination of the two causes the problem. When switching to vegetarian capsules (which do not contain any gelatin, but are only food grade) there is no heartburn at all.

Horrible feeling in throat as a result of swallowing blue and fluoxetine pill. Stop using the blue gelatin/ dye - please!!! Should not have to chase pills with antacids....

Ditto for me. Since TEVA is the Croatian manufacturer of my Trazadone, I don't sleep as well. I've using this med since about 2008 and had no problems until Vintage, etc stopped production.
