I just started mono-linyah for painful periods about two weeks ago. I missed a dose 3 days ago due to a stomach bug. started bleeding yesterday and its a little more than spotting, only a week and a half after the last day of my period. The blood is bright red And dark brown which are both different from my normal periods. Just before I started taking mono-linyah I saw the doctor for an assumed injury from coughing in my upper right side just under my rib cage. Im worried it might be connected to that somehow. Any thoughts? ## Hello, Maddie! How are you? According to the FDA listed information, it is normal for breakthrough bleeding or spotting to occur for about the first 3 months, after starting an oral contraceptive, due to your body getting use to the changing hormone levels. You sh...

I'm new to the contraceptive pill and this is the first time I've finished my full cycle of active pills, so I'm now starting the sugar pill. I'm on my fourth and I still haven't gotten my period. I've read a lot of things on the Internet such as "you can stil get your period even on the very last day of your placebo pill", "sometimes you don't get your period at all on the sugar pill" and my least favourite "you could be pregnant if you don't get your period during the placebo week". I've been taking the pill the same time everyday and I haven't missed one. There's been two occasions where I've taken the pill a few hours late because I forgot in the morning but other than that it seems I should be protected. My nex...

I have a implanon implant and in three months it needs to be replaced. I have a new boyfriend and we have a lot of sex. I also use methamphetamine and was wondering if it would make my birth control not as potent. I feel like I may be pregnant as my cervix is hard. I took two pregnancy tests already but they both said not pregnant. what can I do now?

I have been taking lo loestrin fe for a few months now. I was supposed to start a new pack on Monday (now it's Thursday) but due to some pharmacy mix up I was unable to pick up my prescription in time for the new pack. I picked it up today. Should I start the new pack on Monday? I think I read I was supposed to start on my period but I won't be getting that for awhile (I get it every two months) and I haven't gotten a period in months because of the pills. I really would like to get back on my birth control ASAP because the symptoms of getting off are terrible. Thanks! ## Hello, Angelica! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you had. As long as it's okay with your doctor, then the FDA information states that you can also start at any point in your cycle, but...

This morning when I meant to take my third blue pill in the pack, it was i couldn't see so I accidentally had my pack upside down and instead took the second white pill that i should take at the end of the pack. When i realized what i did i took the correct blue pill immediately, but now i will only have one white pill when the time comes to take it at the end of the month. Is it okay to take only one white pill and then have three days of placebo, one where i just don't take any pill? Or is it okay to skip the last 4 pills altogether and just start my new pack right after my last blue one? Which option will not decrease the effectiveness of the pill? ## Hello, Anna! How are you? Sorry about what happened. If your doctor approves, you should be able to do whichever option works ...

I've been on Sprintec for a little over a month....before taking my periods were light and lasted no more than 5 days. I've had a very heavy period now for 2 weeks with LARGE clots as well as no libido at all....is this something to be concerned with and contact my doctor or just wait it out...I was on sprintec about five years ago and it was wonderful with no side effects but this time has me ready to give it up...please help! ## Hello, Dawn! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems you're having. Our bodies do change with time, especially our hormonal levels and from the symptoms you've described, it sounds like your estrogen is too high, so the Sprintec may be adding too much for you. You might need to switch to something else. Some breakthrough bleeding can be n...

I started lo loestrin fe 3 months ago and I didn't realize until now you are supposed to take the white pills! Last month I had cramps and spotting when I should have had period. I haven't taken any white but never missed blue pills. I am 18 days into my new pack and am extremely worried I could have gotten pregnant. What are the chances?! ## Yes, you are supposed to take those ones, they do contain an active hormone, so there could be a risk of getting pregnant. Probably not a very high one, since theoretically, you were at the end of your cycle at that point, not in the middle where you'd normally ovulate. If you don't get your period, when it's due then having yourself checked for pregnancy would be a good idea. But otherwise, if you start, you're in the clear...

hi by mistake i took the white pills first ,is harmful to do so? and will i still have my periods as normal ? ## Hello, Tamara! How are you? The risk there is that you wouldn't be immediately protected from pregnancy, so there was a risk, if you were actively engaging in intercourse. You wouldn't have been protected, until after taking 7 full days of the active tablets. As to your period, as long as you aren't pregnant, you will get them the last week of your cycle. You should double check with your doctor, but what you most likely should do is take the 3 weeks of active tablets and then just not take any tablets for a week, to allow your period to occur. Side effects to oral contraceptives may include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, weight gain, breakthrough blee...

hi! had sex last oct. 21 (my first day of fertility) around 7am and took nordette at 10am (1st dose) and another at 10pm (2nd dose). on my first dose, i experinced abdominal cramps and LBM. on my second dose, i sleep right after taking it and didn't experience any pain. it's been 2 weeks now and i've not experienced any type of bleeding yet, not even cramps. however, i've been having mucus release for the 11th day today. it's sticky and yellowish-green. it is my first time encountering such mucus. what does it mean? by the way, i have a regular 29-day cycle.

are the inactive ingrediants the same for sprintec and mono-linyah. picked up my daughter's refill of sprintec today and they substituted with mono-linyah. The pharmacy staff reassured me everything was identical. My daughter is afraid to take it because she has had sensitivities before and had just completed a year long course of acne treatment. They claim that sprintec is unavailable and have no idea if and when they will get it in. ## Hi Jane, Based on my research, these medication "do" contain a different set of inactive ingredients. Each blue Sprintec tablet is said to contain the following inactive ingredients: anhydrous lactose, FD&C blue no. 2 aluminum lake, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, and pregelatinized starch. Each white tablet contains only inert ...

I have been taking Sprintec for 3 months now (just started the 4th week of my 3rd pack). I started my first pack on the first day of my period and during the first month I got my period during the 4th week. When I took the second pack, I got my period half way through week 3, and now in my third pack I got my period 2 days before week 4. Could this be my body still adjusting to the hormones and is it effective even though I get my period before week 4? ## Yes, the effectiveness doesn't change, unless you actually miss taking any of the active tablets. And it can take 3 months for your body to get used to the hormones, however, you should check things out with your doctor to be sure. There's a chance that it just might not be the right OC for you to take. Is there anything else I...

I have found a bag in my sons room of these capsules and when u open them they look as though they have been rolled into capsules. U can notice shiny orange specks thru them and I would like to know if anyone knows of what these may be. Any info would be appreciated. ## Hope you figured out what was in your sons rooms!!!! That is the worst feeling ever thinking your children are exposed to anything illegal or dangerous. My best advice is to go online and just enter in everything about the pill. It should give you the description and a picture of it and what it is and what it's for and everything. Hope this helps. Keep me updated. Thanks ## @Woods, The only problem Nikki may have with trying to enter the info online is that her capsule has no markings or imprints to go off of other t...

Hi I am currently taking the Adco Fem contraceptive. I've been taking it for the past 2 years now. I never missed a pill BUT I recently took my first white pill where I should have taken my last yellow pill. I only realised this the next day around the same time so I took the yellow pill after the white pill and continued with the white pill thereafter. I normally get my period 3 days into the white pill which I did.... Am I at risk of falling pregnant ?

My pharmacy couldn't offer my Loestrin Fe at the price I was paying and my doctor suggested I switch to either Lo Loestrin Fe (same active cycle but with a lower dose) or Junel (different active cycle). I chose the LoLo just because it seemed easier, but I was standing in a crowded pharmacy and didn't feel like I could ask all the questions I wanted. So I'm still a little suspicious. What does the low dosage of estrogen really affect? I guess what I"m asking is, if it's not as important as the progestin, why is it in the pill at all? I use bc for contraception, not so much period/mood regulation (mine were never that bad off the pill.) ## Well, it it is a vital female hormone and the amount in different women's bodies varies, so not all of them can take the same ...

white pills with DB on one side nothing on the other side, easily broken in two ## Hi Sammy, Is there any chance that the letters could be "DP" instead of DB? And are they inside of a hexagon? If so, the round white pill you're describing is reported to be a birth control tablet by the name of Yasmin (drospirenone + ethinyl estradiol). However I noticed you also mentioned that it is easily broken in two... Does this mean that there may be a score line as well? Thanks for any additional info you can provide!

Hi, I've been on Lo Loestrin for the past month and a half or so. For the past couple days, I have been kinda sloppy with taking my pills on time. I'm supposed to take them at 1pm, but I forgot until about 4 pm. I have done this twice this week, actually yesterday and today, should I be worried about using condoms next time I have intercourse within the next week, or is it close enough to the normal time that I don't have to worry too much? ## Hello, Abby! How are you? No, you should be fine, unless your doctor says otherwise. There's generally a window of 12 to 24 hours, before it's actually considered that you missed a pill, so taking them a couple hours late is usually considered fine. Typical side effects to OCs may include nausea, headache, bloating, irregular b...
