I have been taking lo loestrin fe for about 5 months now. Last week I took one blue pill about 4-5 hours late but every other pill was right on time. Now a week later I had cramps and constant brown / light pink discharge. What is going on? I'm concerned something may be wrong. ## Hello, Hem! How are you? Unless your doctor thinks there is reason to be concerned, there's most likely nothing to worry about. That can happen, when taking oral contraceptives, especially if you took a pill late. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include headache, dizziness, weight gain, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

I switched from Sprintec to Lomedia 2 months ago and I have not gotten my period in 2 months. Me and my bf use condoms as well and I haven't missed a pill. Not having any symptoms of pregnancy but I am still worried. ## Hello, Emily! How are you? That is normal for some women taking oral contraceptives, some will skip periods, or not get any. If you're concerned, please speak to your doctor, but it's most likely nothing to worry about. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, irritability, headache, breakthrough bleeding and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am on my first pack of lo loestrin fe pills. I started my period on the second week. I have since missed 2 pills back to back in the fourth week. Now on the third day in the fourth week, i have my period again. Is this normal ? ## Yes, irregular bleeding can occur whenever you start new hormonal contraceptives for about the first 3 months. Then to compound it, you missed pills, which basically induces your menstrual cycle and during the last week of the pack, there are inactive pills that are intended to induce it. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. Are there any other questions I can help with? ## I am on my brown pills I started today. Do I take the brown pills and start new pack after those are done or do I start a new pack because I started after the white pillls?

Hello! The past 6 months have been absolutely crazy for me, my mother passed away from ovarian cancer and my dad is in hospice care for Alzheimer's. I have been having a very difficult time remembering pills. I thought I was finally on schedule this month, but got my pack mixed up with another half completed pack. So, on top of missing pills and trying to catch up... I am not even sure what pack is the pack I should be on or where I should be in my cycle. Very confusing. :( I have had spot bleeding for the past couple of days, while taking active pills. I currently do not need BC to protect myself from pregnancy as my boyfriend is out of town. I will not be seeing him until the end of this month, 3 1/2 weeks from now. If at all possible, I would like to avoid any PMS and my period a...

I am taking lo loestrin since past one year. And I was really happy with it till now. I had a high blood pressure episode that lasted 4-5 days. I was a low bp person usually in range 110/70 . now the bp is lower but stuck at 135/85 range. Even though it is borderline normal. I am thinking did my bcp cause my bp to go higher in past one year ? And if I cobtinue to take will it go even more higher ? I don't want to go on bp medication and would like to avoid bcp if it is a factor. Thanks ## Hello, Rach! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. Yes, oral contraceptives that contain estrogens can cause elevated blood pressure, in some women that take them. It may be best to speak to your doctor about stopping it for awhile, to see if it returns to normal...

Hi y'all. I started my new pack of lo loestrin sept 14. Prior to that date my placebos would have been weds, thurs, fri, & sat. I did not take any because I thought the were just sugar pills. So I had my break week I just didn't take the pills. I have not got my period is that suppose to happen? I'm really stressing about it because I don't know if I should have gotten my period please help! ## Hi April, Based on my research, the non-hormonal placebo pills are not meant to serve any therapeutic purpose. So in my opinion it should be ok to simply skip those and not take anything during that time frame if that's what you want to do. I actually heard that the placebos are more so intended to help keep you on track for remembering to take the "active" pills o...

So I started lo loestrin fe about 2/3 months ago. I am supposed to take it at 04:00pm but sometimes I forget to take it so I take it an hour or two after four and sometimes I take it an hour or two before depending on my work schedule. Does this make me less protected? And also does my weight matter? Does it effect it's effectiveness? ## Your weight doesn't matter at all, as long as you are mortally obese. But I don't think you are, so You're good! :) and no a couple hours doesn't really matter. They just want you to take it at the same time to get into the habit of taking them everyday. :) ## Thank you very much! That was helpful

On April 6th I had unprotected sex and my partner did NOT climax inside me. And I was stupid enough to have unprotected sex the very next day and I realized how terrible of an idea it was so I took plan b. On the 16th I got a heavy flow and I broke out with pimples so I'm hoping it was my period? I was having panic attacks and anxiety so I bought another plan b and now I feel like I am gonna start my period (my normal cycle starts on the 1st of the month) and 2 days ago I took 2 pregnancy tests and both were negative. This morning I had another anxiety attack so I took 2 more pregnancy tests and they came out negative. Am I just freaking myself out? Im never having sex again :(

I'm using Micropil Plus oral contraceptive for the first time. For the past month I'm experiencing bleeding and saw some blood clots or tissues, aside from my normal menstruation, which started with my first pill. Is bleeding and some clots normal when taking contraceptive pills? ## Hello, Shine! How are you? Yes, that can be normal, when you're taking oral contraceptives, it's due to the estrogens that are in it. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have never taken BC (Sprintec) before. And I started my first pack a week before my period was supposed to come. And now it is a week into my first pack and I have gotten my period, and I am still taking the active pills. - This is the time of month I would have normally gotten my period if i wouldn't have started BC a week ago. But it concerns me because I have my period while taking the ACTIVE pills. Is this normal? And will it correct itself, so I get my period when I take the inactive pills in the future? ## Hello, Drew! How are you? It is normal to have irregular bleeding for the first 3 months, while your body is getting used to the hormones in the oral contraceptives. Eventually, things should balance out and you'll get your period only during the week of the inactive p...

I came on my period twice this month I started at the beginning of the month and I'm back on again at the end of the month while on my blue pills for sprintec, if I stop taking the pill and just wait until I get the next pack, will my period stop? ## Hello, Sabrina! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. Irregular breakthrough bleeding is normal for the first 3 months, or so, while your body is getting used to this medication and no, stopping them likely won't help, because the last week of the pack are actually placebo pills with no active ingredients that normally induce your period. The FDA lists the other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, headache, weight gain, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. If the bleeding is very annoying...

I got Jadelle a month ago, and I am still to get my period, which I was told it's normal if I don't. I've started getting cramps as if I'm supposed to be getting my period but have had diarrhea for the last 2 days. Is it normal to get diarrhea? I don't feel sick or anything so I thought it might be related with the Jadelle? Has this happened to anyone else? ## Hello, Dani! How are you? Yes, that can be normal, while your body is adjusting to the hormone in the Jadelle. However, there is also a chance that it may be unrelated. The FDA lists the other typical side effects of Jadelle as possibly including headache, bloating and PMS-like symptoms. Has there been any change, yet?

I began taking Sprintec on the Sunday my period began. I bled the entire week. I spotted for a week and then began bleeding again the third week. I was taking the pills at the same time everyday, but recently started taking them earlier. I have finished all of the blue pills and I'm beginning the white pills that have no hormones. Will I be menstruating for another whole week? ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? I'm sorry, I know that can be very annoying. How long have you been taking it? You can usually experience breakthrough bleeding for the first 3 months, while our body is getting used to the hormones, if it continues beyond 3 months, then you may need to try a different oral contraceptive. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, headache, irritabil...

Last week I started my new pack of tri sprintec. I somehow missed three pills in week one, and took two pills that Sunday (the day I realized). I didn't start a new pack, and this week I had unprotected intercourse five days after Sunday. I know my risks for pregnancy are very high, but are there any suggestions on what to do now? ## @Alexa, When you engage in that level of intimacy with your partner, assuming the risk of pregnancy is something that both individuals have to live with and be mentally prepared for in the event that something does/doesn't go as planned. But "what's done is already done" and you can't go back in time to reverse it... So with that said, I would just encourage you to continue taking your pills as prescribed and from this point onward, ...

I took one white pill in my pack of lo loestrin fe and then I lost the pack (it had 1 white pill and 2 brown pills left in it). I started a new pack the next day and since then I have been spotting and bleeding light red to brown blood on and off. I am on my third week of pills now and I am still bleeding on and off. I won't be bleeding half the day, but then it will start later on and then stop again. What do I do? Should I stop the pills and wait for a normal period and start a new pack, or should I continue taking them? ## Hello, Akita! How are you doing? Sorry about the problem that you're having. It might be due to the fact that you started new active pills right away. Those last pills in the pack actually have no active hormones in them, so really, you should have just not...
