Best Replacement For Methadone

I have been on 50 mg of methadone tid for a 3 months after 2 years years on 40mgs tid. I am also on 2-3 30 mg oxycodone for breakthrough and 100mg ms contin bid. I have reached this stage due to tolerance after 8 years of use for 9+ pain due L3, L4, and 3 cervical herniations, and spinal stenosis. I am also on 1mg of clorazepam tid. I am not getting relief from the methadone and the Pain Doctor wants to look to lessen my methadone due to QT cardiac delays. My doctor is open to reasoned regimen and that is what I need. I will see him next Wed. so I am in a hurry. Thanks in advance.

Well, you should be aware that regardless of what you try to replace it with, you are likely to still experience some problems, if you stop the Methadone. It is very difficult to stop and, even with a slow taper, it usually still causes withdrawal symptoms.

A medication you may want to ask your doctor about is Fentanyl, it is a very potent narcotic that is available as a lollipop and a patch.

Like most other narcotics, it can still cause depression of the central nervous system, but you'd need to ask your doctor about the specifics on the QT interval, as I haven't found anything on that.

Brother im going through the same s*** L3 L4 L5 S1 with level 3 fusion with rods and screw s ruptured the hole shbang you my try the SCS iv had it for 6 mthy now it helps alot but you will probably still want all you r taking now you tell them you are hurting and they say on a scale 1 to 10 wants your pain and they just dont get your pain more like 20 to 60 because if a person that just got in our condition they would be screaming blood murder if not past out you have to jyst get your mind off it because there is meds there to get to stop it all day every day but you life will flash before your eyes just take it day by day bro.
