Best Generic Adderall Brands (Page 20)

Is the round pink 30 mg Adderall generic name Sandoz/Eon with the markings of CDR 136 on one side more or less effective than the oval orange 30 mg Adderall generic name Barr/Teva with the markings of b974 on one side and 30 on the other side? What is the most effective/potent Adderall that is generic and 30 mg?

They improved but recent batches weak. They are discontinued as of May 1. They only supply their version of XR now.

Todd from Weymouth, MA where are you able to fill Corepharma around here? I've called all of the pharmacies and I used to be able to get at Walgreens but now they don't have it!

Would like to get some feedback on the effectiveness of Adderall XR 30 mg by Prasco. I've heard it contains the least amount of inactive ingredients, thereby making it the most effective of the generic brands? Any comments?

Is Prasco the best generic Adderall XR 30 mg available? I'm arguing back and forth to get the name brand Adderall XR 30 mg by Shire. They approved the IR which didn't last long enough and they had QL's on them so the doc put me back on XR but they refused name brand. Anyone know why they would do that?

It's the same as Sandoz XR. Both Prasco and Sandoz are the Authorized Generic of Shire. I had the Sandoz XR 30 last month. Clean but weak. With that said, your alternatives are the crap Teva and Aurobindo IR. I would order again...so "best" alternative. Good luck.

In South Carolina CVS still carries the generic Corepharma Adderall. I tried it for the first time last month and I love it! However, everyone is different and are also on other medications. Before you try one, you should ask your doctor if you can do a “trial run” to see what works best for you. My doctor made sure that my meds work all together, lucky to have him!

Does Teva still manufacture and distribute generic Adderall IR.

Someone on a different site stated that they (Teva) had discontinued their IR since their merger

I actually called them and spoke with a representative who stated, definitively, they (Teva Generics) are still producing generic Adderall IR, in fact, the product and its respective prescribing information can be found on the Teva website.

I know there are some that are not a fan of this manufacture. For me personally, is the only one that seems to be more potent than the others, as well as more efficacious. Stating that however, I do believe they changed the formula of their product two or three years ago. I personally have noticed a decrease in the efficacy of the product and the potency. I have also noticed that the actual size of the pills are smaller than they once were, especially the 30 mg IR

Corepharma and Sandoz simply seek very weak to me.

One word of profound caution… Avoid avoid avoid Mallinckrodt generic Adderall IR!!!
It is just like a sugar pill

For me, I tried the Teva generic AGAIN for the IR's after a few years and it still feels weak. Why are they so dang sweet too? I got the 20mg IR Adderal for Teva. AND I did find Sandoz at a mom and pop shows 30mg IR, which are AMAZING! I will definitely be getting my Adderal, both strengths as I am or was on Adderal 30 mg and 20 mg IR from that place in Sandoz (orange pill with an E on them). I'm doing a test run of the generic Adderal XR and was surprised to get Prasco from Walgreens (I thought they exclusively carried Teva, they do for the IR's in my area). The XR's are pretty good I guess, not as good as the ones I tried a year ago or so from Walgreens (which I'm assuming were Teva). They still seem to wear off pretty quickly and are very expensive to I will likely go back to IR and Sandoz IR! The generic prescription market is getting crazy! I did read that Aurobindo had acquired Malinkodt (sp?) and Teva acquired Actavis. If Prasco is part of Shire, then I guess there are 5 major generic manfacturers of Adderal IR/XR: Aurobindo (worst ever, fell asleep after taking), Teva, Shire (Prasco), Sun (rare, never tried), Impax (acquired Corepharm) and Sandoz (I don't think they have been acquired by anyone yet per my research). Most places in my area carry Aurobindo..yuck..does anyone actually like Aurobindo?

I have taken generic Adderall for approximately 10 years. The list below consist of all the generic brands I have tried

Teva
Sandoz
Corepharma
Mallincktrodt
Actavis

I have found that although it has weakened in potency and efficacy within the last three years, Teva ( The Orange football style pill) is still more potent and efficacious. This simply represents my opinion

I have been very disappointed of Teva's IR. About 6+ mo ago, it was my choice of generics.

My last two refills were (and I can't emphasize this enough) -absolutely horrible!!

Irritability, low potency, and depression

Anyone, who has had Teva IR filled very recently care to comment ?

The Barr/Teva "used" to be my generic Adderall IR of choice also. It am beyond angry and frustrated with them. There was absolutely NO reason for them to mess around with this formula, especially since it "WAS" the exact identical Shire Adderall IR formula. So, why would they do it? The only reason I can come up with is; GREED. However, it's a poor decision on their part. Providing the consumer with a crappy, watered down, inferior product, equals a boycott from me. And, from what I've read from so many others who are equally disgusted with them, and other big pharma companies, I am certain that I am not alone. Eventually, their sales will plummet to nothing. There will be no reason for doctors to prescribe their ADHD, and/or their Narcolepsy patients with this medication, as it is no longer being produced to combat, or to be of any benefit to those who have been diagnosed with these "conditions" or whatever the proper word is for that. It sickens me, but if this is the way it's going to be, I will just suffer the weeks, or months it will take to find other ways to go about my life without this medication. It can't be worse than it is now! The pharmaceutical companies are already no longer providing or producing the formula that was studied and approved to be beneficial. Since that formula NO longer exists, I believe that a new treatment option and a new study should be conducted using "that crap" formula that they are pushing down our throats, and claiming to be of equal quality as Adderall IR, generic; D-AMPHENTIMINE SALT COMBO/IR (Adderall IR).

I see you made this post yesterday, August 14th and I just want to say I filled my script yesterday at Walgreens, and found myself here because I noticed after taking the pill I feel depressed and irritable and the pill didn't work, may as well have taken a sugar pill. I also feel sleepy and I'm never sleepy in the daytime. I'm done with Teva. Teva has been my generic of choice when it comes to Adderall but my June, July and now August refills have only gotten progressively worse. I'm gonna have to give CorePharma or Sandoz a try next time. Thankfully, my friend is a pharmacist at CVS and she'll order whichever generic I need. F U Teva!

As Core is now gone - I will be faced with the dilemma of what alternative I take for next months script:
1. Teva Generic- From the POSTS, very reluctant to choose. Especially if it is making people depressed!
2. Teva Brand - EXPENSIVE. Is it worth the price? I believe Teva messed with the formula so its far from the original Shire.
3. Mylan - I had a few of these in my last script as I got the last 27 Core's available and 3 Mylan. They seemed more potent than the Core but I only had 3..
4. Aurobindo- Appears to be disaster per the POSTS. I did ask the CVS pharmacist last month if there were complaints about these and she said "No!, I have Doctors on them and they like them!" Hmmm...am I missing something here?

Other alternative is go the XR route with Prasco/Sandoz as they are the Authorized Generic from Shire (but do not like capsules as I prefer to have pills I can manage).

Any recommendations would be appreciated as to the direction I should go.

Thanks.

Impax's subsidiary Global Pharmaceuticals is a rather new generic for Adderall IR and XR.

Apparently global handles all of Impax Pharmaceuticals' generics division.

I have never tried them, but, I don't know what to do! All the alternatives have received very poor reviews.

Back to my original point which was my research into -Teva- and the purpose of my post:

For eight years I have always taken Teva IR generic because out of all manufacturers I have tried, it seemed to be the most potent and efficacious (for me).

CorePharma was horrible between the years of 2009 and 2012, then seemed to suddenly improve, but now, of course, it is discontinued, but apparently is still in circulation in limited outlets.

Teva also changed their formula in 2013.

-Important-

When I state they changed their formula, I mean that they applied, with the FDA, for a new ANDA to produce and promote a drug (d- amphetamine salts). The only reason for this would be a -change- to something.

I called Teva and conducted some basic research concerning as to when the last time Teva submitted an application to the FDA, or changed their formula (i.e. a new ANDA).

My research, both by calling Teva personally, and, researching this on the FDA site, indicated they changed it in 2007 and 2013 respectively.

No recent changes can be found, or at least I did not find them.

Interestingly, according to the FDA, -Barr Pharmaceuticals- submitted an ANDA to the FDA for mixed amphetamine salts IR in 2013.

This... I cannot explain. Perhaps someone else can. As they were acquired by Teva.

I could not find any recent Teva formula changes, so I can't explain reports with respect to a drop in efficacy/potency.

The only advice that I can give is this: Whatever you do, do not except the manufacturer Mallinckrodt.

Out of every possible generic you can name, this really is horrific, and I mean horrific.

Even though I may regret this advice, I think I would stick with Teva.

- Rationale of my thinking:
_____________________________

Even though the reviews recently have been deleterious for Teva, they aren't -as bad- as many of the other new manufacturers of this drug. These reviews are rampant and (invariably) profoundly negative.

I hope this helps in any way.

Seems like everyone just responds to this thread and doesn't answer anyone's new questions (thread) on generic adderall.
I'm glad this isn't a life or death medication that I was hoping to get feedback on before submitting my Rx to the drug store. I'm hoping I made the right decision in choosing the generic brand for my 20 mg IR adderall.

It is difficult to specifically answer the question because, obviously, generics may effect people differently.

I personally have noticed that Teva Adderall, although it does seems weaker as of late, just about every generic manufacturer of Adderall has received harsh, vitriolic, criticism, so of course it is impossible to answer such a question, or be specific. Thus, I would stay with Teva.

I did my best to offer a specific opinion.

NYC adderall by Teva at Duane Reade/Walgreens: is it ok--I have a script but not going much. I don't find any effect from 15mg or 20mg of the blue Teva pills regardless of shape. I am 53 and tiny. Please let me know your experience with Teva brand as of late and especially if you live in NYC or get this from Walgreens (which merged with Duane Reade). NO local pharmacies other than CVS are in NYC with my insurance. I have a script fyi.

I too am getting my Adderall XR 30 mg generic from Walgreens and they gave me Prasco last month. After taking it for a few days, I wasn't certain whether I liked it or not as I still began to feel a little sleepy during the afternoon so thought that it had worn off like all the others. I contacted Prasco about their generic and they responded, in writing the following:

"We appreciate your interest in Mixed Amphetamine Salts ER capsules (the authorized generic of Adderall XR) which we distribute.
The product we distribute is manufactured for us by Shire (the brand manufacturer of Adderall XR) and contains the exact same ingredients and is an identical formula as Shire's brand product.
Please see the listing of inactive ingredients which you requested:
gelatin capsules, hydroxypropyl methylcelluose, metharcylic acid copolymer, opadry beige, sugar spheres, talc, treythlcitrate, red iron oxide and yellow iron oxide. Gelatin capsules contain edible inks, kosher gelatin and titanium dioxide.
Kind regards,
Fay Brikman
Pharmacovigilance Associate
Prasco"

Today, I am at the end of my one moth script and have called my doctor and asked them to please indicate Prasco as my generic choice brand for future refills. I didn't realize that this medication IS working for me and I no longer fall asleep at traffic lights and it lasts longer and I feel almost as good as if I were taking name brand Adderall XR by Shire. Think I will stick with this generic for a while. They were not expensive at all $47.88 for 60 capsules at Walgrees with insurance.

The Teva 20mg causes me depression and the comedown is really harsh. I'm on 60mg/day and I get angry easily with the kids late in the day. I've only srarted this generic again in the last month because I can't find the core pharma anywhere now.
The core pharma IR was really good and I was stable through the day, never noticed the comedown. It wasn't quite as potent at onset but I cannot take the Teva anymore.
The Teva formulation seems dangerous...like the only way to not feel terrible is to take more. My ex wife discovered those and it spiraled to the point it destroyed her life.
I have a refill rx and am calling around to find something different. Aurobindo two months ago felt like 1/2 a dose and the Malloncrodt did almost nothing.
Very frustrated.
