Benazipril And Acid Reflux (Top voted first)

Updated

I'm taking Benazipril and Triam/Hctz and having pretty intense acid reflux issues, even if meds are taken with food and plenty of water. Is there an alternative medication I should try that might not affect my stomach so badly? I also have cramps in my lower legs.

I have been on cadizem cd , acupril for 13 years, developped acid reflux for the past 10 years, tried every acid reflux remedies on the market with no help. for the last 2 years i have been on spironolactone which made my acid reflux worse, which pills i should not be taking to ease up my acid re flux, also which blood pressure has less side effect of acid reflux.

Hi,

My blood pressure is around 140 to 150 and the the low part is 90 to 100.
I am 60 year old.

I want to avoid taking medication if possible.
I Have tried to reduce my weight (previously 90 kg) to 86 and still trying to reduce to 80 if possible.

Having reduced to 86 I haven't seen any progress in my blood pressure.

I have tried to take amlodipine (5) but it gives no significant effect.
My diet is no meat like mutton, pork, chicken or beef (fish ok) and I don't drink alcohol (one cup of coffee per day).

I tried to exercise regularly (3 time per week, fat burn or weight lifting)
All of those don't seem to help reducing my blood pressure.

Can anybody advice what happens in my body. Why it is so persistently high?
My GP advice me to take concor 5(bizoprorol), Should I take this as a try?

thanks for suggestion

Elizabeth, have you tried anything to prevent the reflux, such as Prilosec, or Pepcid? They can usually be taken with most blood pressure and cardiac medications, unless your doctor says otherwise. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach pain.

Armelle, what type of foods do you eat and what do you usually drink? These can contribute to acidity issues and sometimes, we need to cut out certain things to help prevent such issues.

Paul, how much sodium do you take in each day? Some people are sodium sensitive, according to NIH studies, and they have to keep their levels very low, in order to get their blood pressure under control.
