My little dog ate a benazepril (heart tablet) meant for the older dog, she weighs about 30 lbs, will she be ok (she ate 10 mg) ## In case it makes any difference, she is a whippet ## How is she doing? If you have an emergency veterinary clinic in your area that you can call, I think that would be the best idea. I apologize, but I haven't studied up on the use of medications in animals. Learn more Benazepril details here. The dosage is usually only 0.1 or 0.2mgs per pound of body weight, so it may be kind of high for her. Has she been drowsy or sick, at all? ## *Sad News* Unfortunately Sparkels passed away soon after this post

Please tell me what the above pill might be for. There are no markings on it. It is a gold pill, 1/2 inch long, 1/4 wide, triangle or teardrop shaped. ## Hi Kim, Since there are no markings on your pill, it is impossible to know for sure what it might be. There is a possibility that it could be Benazepril (10 mg); which is classified as an orange three sided (triangular shaped) pill with the imprint "93 5125". Manufacturer: Teva Pharmaceuticals USA National Drug Code (NDC): 00093-5125 To view an image of this pill click here  Benazepril is a medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), congestive heart failure, and chronic renal failure. I just received my first mail order for perscriptions. In the past I received a generic (Amloddipine-benazepril) from the pharmacy that was a hot piink and white capsule. In the mail I received I received the same name different color capsule yellow/orange (348/RDY) respectively on it. Is it the same generic but a changed color because it is mail order? Both are provided by CVS and CVS.com. ## Hi Michele, The color of a medication doesn't usually have anything to do with its formulation. This one could possibly be from a different manufacturer. As long as it contains the same amount of ingredients as the last one you had, you should be just fine. If it really concerns you, you can always ask your doctor or a pharmacist. I hope this helps!

is it used for erectile disfunction ## Hi jayezee, The closest match I can find based on your description is Benazepril hydrochloride (8 mg). It is a small round blue pill with the numbers 344 on the back and the letters ETH on the front. Benazepril is a medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), congestive heart failure, and chronic renal failure. I take benazepril -hydrochlorth for hypertension and the pharmacist told me that the manufacturers stopped making them as they were and now I have to buy two separate pills to have basically the same pill I was taking . It seems that they are just doing this to double the copay that i make . I do not see the logic of it. Is there any special medical explanation for this action? ## I find it odd that the pharmacist told you that since there is no definitive information online (at least yet) to confirm it is true. Although this drug combination of benazepril and hydrochlorothiazide is already available separately, any effort to make the duo unavailable would definitely be geared towards patients spending more on each individual drug. Also, by taking two medications, you'd possibly be ...

My pharmacy gave me these instead of Benazepril 20. I know this is an error. What is the pill please. ## No, the tablet with the A 53 marking also contains 20mgs of Benazepril, it is manufactured by Amneal Pharmaceuticals. This is a generic medication, so it is manufactured by several different companies and pharmacies will often switch which one they carry, depending on who was offering the cheapest price, when they needed to restock their supply. Vet prescribed this in 5mg dose. Pills received say 341 on one side and have no marking on other side. They are approximately 1/4 inch in diameter and 1/8 inch thick. Other batch of pills are closer to 1/8 inch in diameter, being much smaller. Are the larger pills 5mg? Vet's office had no info on who the manufacturer was ## I haven't been able to find a listing for a tablet with just a 341 on it, there is a 5mg Benazepril with ETH on one side and 541 on the other. However, if this was something specially formulated for use in animals, it may not be in the prescription drug databases, since they are generally only relevant to human use. Didn't the vet's office have the original packaging? That should list who the manufacturer is.
