Benadryl Availability In Iv Form?

Hi. I was wondering if anyone out there has been able to get Benadryl (or the other anti-itch med...Atarax?) in an IV form for use at home? I get crazy itchy if I don't take Benadryl or Atarax with oxycodone or Phenergan! So I have a difficult time digesting pills of any kind and I'm trying to research & figure out if anyone out there has gotten the IV form of this drug covered by insurance, or even if this drug in IV form exists for in-home use? Also, which is stronger, Benadryl or Atarax? Thanks!

Yes, it does exist in IV form, but there are no guarantees that any given doctor will prescribe it for you in IV form.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and drowsiness.

As to being covered by insurance, it depends on what type of insurance you have, so no one can answer that question, without more details. Can you please post back and clarify?

Sure, I have Keystone Healthplan East as my primary and Medicare as my secondary with an Aetna add on. My other IV meds are prescribed by my pcp and go through my infusion services pharmacy, Corum.
