Benadryl Hydrochloride Iv

I have had 2 anaphylactic shock episodes due to ER visits with Benadryl in my IV. Allergist tested...allergic to Benadryl. I am on MANY meds and many have hydrochloride in them and some have diphenhydramine in them. If I am allergic to benadryl, would it be to the Diphenydramine, or the hydrochloride side? Thank you!

It would be the Diphenhydramine that you have to stay away from. The Hydrochloride just designates the chemical salt that a medication was derived from, so you will actually see that listed on many different medications.
