I have ankylosing spondylitis and have been taking Beline capsules for nine months with remarkable results. I am largely pain free with an all round feel good benefit. Even a very long standing skin rash has disappeared. When I stop taking them the pain returns quite noticeably. Nonetheless I have strong reservations about herbal medications and intend to consult with my Rheumatologist shortly. Pity!!!

I had been suffering with a very nasty Eczema on the hands and feet for nearly 4 years often resulting in open sores that refused to heal without large doses of Prednisolone. Repeated attempts at a progressive reduction of the Prednisolone dose failed no matter how slowly this was phased. Whilst the Beline capsules seem to be predominantly marketed for their arthritic/rheumatic benefits having read so many user reviews on top of reports from a friend as to benefits noticed with skin conditions I was at the point to try anything. Within a matter of days I was literally watching the skin heal on my feet in front of my very eyes. After 2 weeks I have got the Prednisolone down to 5mg (15mg never bettered) and the skin is holding fine. I do trust the MHRA does not manage to get this product banned as it has helped me more in a couple of weeks than the medical profession has managed in 4 years. In the appreciation of the relationship between toxification problems and the skin I will now hope that the Beline capsules have done their job and reduce their intake. In the meantime I can only report the results as truly magical.

As a result of some comments on other forums i have done some research and found the following

I would suggest contacting your doctor immediately if you are taking this product. Do not suddenly stop taking these, if they contain steroids then stopping suddenly is dangerous.

Health authorities care about peoples health not big pharma, either there is differences from pack to pack to pack or the MHRA didn't tet for everything. The ingredients published fit with the side effects people including myself have felt or reported. What's worying me is if i've been taking steroid unknown and not calcium so potenially long term damage.

Hi All, The origin of beline is celixir labs based in singapore, the capsules are most likely made in china, focushr look like they have the eu distribution rights from cilixer labs...ever wondered why your apetite incresed when on these.... it will be interesting to see what mhra do next

Beline Capsules have been tested by the MHRA in the UK and were found to contain a trace amount of Chlorphenamine, this was further investigated by ourselves and was found to be a contamination error. We have implemented new procedures to ensure this does not happen again and all clients that had purchased from the contaminated batch were offered a refund or exchange. We now work closely with MHRA and they have and continue to test our product along with an independent UK lab, both of which have confirmed the capsules only contain the listed ingredients.

In regards to the recent claims from the Danish Medical Agency, we are currently investigating these claims as neither the MHRA or the independent lab have come across these extra ingredients in any of their testing. To date the DMA have been unable to provide us with any lab analysis, batch ID or where they obtained the capsules and therefore we are investigating a possibility that our product may have been tampered with.

We suggest that any clients that would like to discuss the recent claims against our product email us with their contact details.

So who should we believe? Two different organisations that exist to safegaurd peoples health or someone who makes lots of money from this and has a lot to lose. By the way the mhra still maintain this is unlicensed and illegal and since when is there a batch number on a pack of capsules!

Joe, The MHRA have closed the case file regarding the contamination batch, otherwise we would not be able to continue selling the product within Europe. I can happily provide you with emails from the MHRA stating the case has been closed. We have not asked the MHRA to remove their intial post as we do not feel we have anything to hide, the contamination of chlorpheniramine was a production error which we have acknowledged and resolved to the MHRA standards.

As I have allready stated in my previous post the DMA claims have still not been legal proved in anyway, when the MHRA tested our product they visited our offices with their lab analysis, where as the DMA still have not provided us with any lab reports or analysis. Also the MHRA tested our product for pharmaceutical drugs so the ingredients that the DMA claim to have found would have shown up on the MHRA tests.

The product is and has been taken by the majority of my family for over 5 years, so I hope you understand that we are not here to lie or mislead people about the product.

I'd like to see better evidence here - both for and against the various claims. Can you guys cite references? I have read both the MHRA and Danish articles which state certain questionable ingredients, but I'm also reading positive reviews of this product. I'd like to see any other information stating that the MHRA has closed their previous case against the product because I can't find that info on their web site. Just wanting to be safe, and would hate to miss out on a good product ... but both sides need to provide better proof for me. Anyone?

I am glad I wrote to them because now they have to provide evidence. Think I opened a can of worms. I am disappointed because I have stopped taking them and my pain has returned. I am going to ask for a batch number because as someone says "where is it on the box" I did have the most violent cramps in my feet and legs and it continued all night. Since stopping the capsules have not had these cramps. What ingredient could cause this. Any thoughts??

I haven't seen anything that says MHRA have closed their case. It's now a legal requirement from the end of April that herbals must be registered if sold in the UK. Beline don't have a registration number so therefore unlicenced and illegal as far as I am aware. So close collaboration with MHRA sounds rubbish. I've sent a note to MHRA to confirm

Maybe they are just Sellers and have no idea of what is in the capsules only what they have been told. it is exactly like cosmetic sales people they give out the blurb they are told to. If we keep this going maybe we will get to the truth.

Graham will not get a response from a doctor as they do not commit and do not know anything about herbs. I asked the same thing of my Doctor and had no comment. It must be tested by an independent and impartial body. I do not know this network. Maybe someone else does

I contaced beline off-line as they requested and asked to see the emails they said would prove that the mhra case is closed, they replied to me that they would not be forwarding confidential mails and the comment that they made was an error. I then asked for a contact name at MHRA that I could follow up with... no reply...so no evidence from beline
