Are you taking them for hypertension? And if so, how high was your blood pressure?

If it was moderately high to high, then yes, they both might be needed to try to bring it back down to safe levels as fast as possible. Your doctor should be checking it ever few weeks to see what effect the medications are having. Once it comes down, then it can be decided if you need to keep taking both medications, or if one can be stopped.
