Hi Christine,

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but to my understanding there aren't any set age requirements for taking prescription or OTC drugs, unless it is confirmed by your doctor/pharmacist or specified on the label of your medication.

It was discovered however that Baralgin (Metamizole) carries a small risk of causing agranulocytosis, a potentially fatal condition. Controversy remains regarding the level of risk, but several national medical authorities have banned Metamizole either totally or have restricted it to be available only on prescription, while others have maintained its availability over the counter.

That said, it may be in your best interest to try and use a safer or more natural alternative for a younger child.

I hope this helps!
