Banging Into Anything Is Causing Extreme Itching (Top voted first)

Updated

I figured I'd come here hoping anyone can figure out this weird thing happening with my dad, we cannot figure out. Everytime he hits his body off something (example: getting up from the couch and he hits his leg off the coffee table. Just normal terrible luck kind of hits where u smack ur arm or leg off something lol), it'll cause suucchh a baadd itch that he can't get to stop unless he takes some Benadryl :/ it's thee weirdest thing. If he cuts himself it doesn't happen, it's literally just when he hits a body part off something like we allll do. His dr said maayybbee it could be a blood disorder? :/ but i just don't know. He's relying on Benadryl almost everyday because if he bumps into anything hard enough it'll cause such extreme itching. Does ANYONE know whaatt this could be? It's the weirdest thing but it's become a very big hassle in his life and very annoying. Thank u so much for reading my question!!

Hi WinMac,

Sorry to hear about your dad's situation. I've personally never heard of anything quite like it, but I can understand why the doctor may have correlated such symptoms with a possible blood disorder.

How long has your dad been dealing with this issue?

Has he had any bloodwork done to check for nutrient deficiencies, blood cell counts and everything in between? If not, my thinking is that this may be the next best course of action towards discovering the potential root of the problem.

I hope this helps!

Re: David (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Yeah i think the bloodwork the Dr suggested is our only route right now :/
I've been pushing him to go but he holds everything off and says he has no time. At his Drs office ur only allowed 2 issues and 10 mins per app. So i have to wait for a time he only has 1 issue to go in for lol. I get it saves time and the old ppl from telling war stories but obv ur going there cuz ur sick, probly can't drive. So getting a ride 2 days in a row so u can deal with 3 issues, 2 one day n 1 the other, is almost impossible.
