Bactrim Ds 800 160 Tab Side Effect

Having taken Bactrim for about 3 weeks for a prostate infection, it now seems that the first urination after taking the pill exaggerates or possibly causes an extra burning sensation. Is this ever reported as a side effect

Bactrim contains Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim and being that it's a sulfa drug, it's well known to cause odd side effects and weight reactions in many people that take it.

As a matter of fact, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, unless it's their only option for treating their infection.

That said, yes there's a chance that the medication could be causing the problem, though there is also still a chance that it is unrelated.

However, from personal experience, since I had a bad reaction to this myself last summer, I'd say to look at the Bactrim as being the likely culprit first.

There are other antibiotic choices that you can try, it doesn't necessarily have to be this one.

How much longer are you supposed to be on it?

Started with itching (MAD ITCH) all over- felt like it was in my blood circulating all over my body. Hives spots for about 30 mins before it eased up. Kept rubbing hand sanitizer all over the itchy places. After 2 days, I am suffering from cracked lips and mouth sores. Also queasy and bloated stomach and irritation in private area. Taking for UTI. Feel weak, hard to eat and swallow. I have taken this drug before and had the itching problem but not the mouth issues or other symptoms. Do not know why it is acting this way this time. I am MISERABLE and SCARED.. does not help it is a weekend and Monday is a holiday... Trying chap stick and mouth rinses and mouth gels... no relief!!! About ready for the ER!!!!!

Been taking bactrim ds 2 weeks now. Itchy second day, face broke out with about 25 tiny pimples day four, day 6 presented with sore throat so bad I can hardly swallow, cough (worse at night) starting to burn & now - day 14 - I try to urinate but not much comes out & burns (sounds like uti huh but isn't bactrim is spose to treat it not cause it). Am I having allergic reaction or just happen to break out (which I've never broken out like before), catch a cold and.... I feel kinda dumb even asking but everything I've read about bactrim says it treats these things.; not cause them. Thx
