I was on Topamax since 2006, 300mg a day. i went off it last year, my decision after a long discussion with my dr due to all the side affects, one major one was my hair loss, it was coming out in clumps. After being off of it for the past year, I gained over 30lbs. My eating was the same, healthy. Activity was the same. I attributed the weight gain to being off the Topamax. I went back to my dr this past week asked to go back on it again. I does help with my over all mood but I was on it for chronic pain from 6 surgeries. My question is, when i was on Topamax the first time I lost a ton of weight, should I expect it again. Im already down 5 lbs since Wednesday. 11/11.

Yes, it is possible that it will work that way for you, again. Some doctors actually prescribe it now as an adjunct to weight loss. However, our bodies do change, so there's no way to be sure, until you're one it for awhile and see.
Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, change in taste and runny nose.
