I'm a 49yr old female and had a DVT that caused two large lateral PE. After genetic testing and many other tests they are happy to blame the Birth control pill I was taking along with a 5 hour car ride. I am 3months on Xarelto and my side effects are back pain, hip joint pain and my sleeping is off. I have a high tolerance for pain so I have been dealing with it. I was told if all goes well with the test by my 6 month I will be released from taking Xarelto. I hope my pulmonary doctor is telling me the truth as I find him to say things he knows I want to hear.

I am very sorry about the problems you've experienced.
Those can be typical side effects of Xarelto, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising.
And yes, it is typically only taken for a short period of time, until such problems are resolved, via whatever relevant treatment is deemed necessary.
