For healthy individuals the desirable LDL level is less than 100, for those considered at high risk of cardiac problems, the ideal level is considered 70 or less, so yes, the doctor will normally want anyone with a level over 100 to use a medication and dietary options to lower it.

Astor contains the active ingredient Atorvastatin, these medications are very commonly used to help lower cholesterol.

Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and joint/muscle aches.
