UpdatedPharmacist is telling me supply is not meeting demand and i have a hard time believing that. My script has been backordered now for two and one half weeks. Anyone else having issues?

Getting ready to turn 40 soon. I've been on various testosterone teatments since I was in my mid 20s. I've probably tried every available treatment and Axiron has been more effective with absorption and boosted my levels more than any other treatment, including injections. My experience with hormone replacement is after a period of time you should stop for another period of time. After consistent day after day application per Dr recommendation, I have always noticed undesirable side effects. Headaches, extreme fatigue, and a general lack of mental sharpness have all appeared after being on the medication too long. Also with androgel and axiron I gain about 15-20 lbs, despite hard exercise. I'm athletic, highly educated and I know many men are thinking wow that's great, all muscle right? Not exactly, hard to know exactly, but I think fluid retention is a big part of it. Here's my 15+ year experience summed up, testosterone is a serious, complicated hormone. Be very cautious. I get my blood tested every 6 months (required by doctor to get prescription refilled). And yes, there are very serious potential side effects beyond what I've experienced. Really watch how your body responds and listen to your doctor. When they say stop taking it, stop. I make the decision now when to stop since I have so much experience taking it. Once your body adjusts and you notice the common low t symptoms again, consider restarting for awhile again. Hopefully in the future with more understanding of the complexity of this hormone, better recommendations can be established on how often and how to use it overall.
@Rick,
Regarding the availability of Axiron, it's quite possible that the manufacturer simply isn't satisfied with the amount of sales vs cost of production and therefore haven't been producing as much of it as before... leading to the backorder issues.
That's just one theory, but if it is the case then perhaps you can speak to your doctor about prescribing a different brand name from another manufacturer; taking a chance on a new brand with an understanding that something may be better than nothing at all, depending on how soon you need it?
My pharmacy (King Soopers) says they can't get Axiron from their suppliers anymore. Is Eli-Lilly stopping production of Axiron? Or what is the problem?
