Hi Maria,

Avelox is a drug that can lead to many problems, including arrhythmia. Many heart arrhythmias are due to a decrease of magnesium in the body (even if your magnesium level tested by your doctor is normal). Unfortunately, the mechanism of action of many of the Avelox Side Effects is through a reduction in magnesium in the body. This could potentially lead to worsening of symptoms. You should carefully read about the side effects of these drugs and decide if the risk is worth treating the infection, or if it might be better to call your doctor, tell him about your concerns, and ask for an alternative to Levaquin to treat your infection.
