Availability Of Tussigon

Have a dog rescue/shelter & need Tussigon for 6 dogs with heart/trachea/pulmonary hypertension issues & 1 dog with autoimmune pulmonary disease. Have prescriptions. CVS pharmacy can't get Tussigon-told me today to go to other pharmacies. CVS has the best price. Need approximately 260 tablets per month. Hydrocodone/Homatropine doesn't work as well as the blue Tussigon tablet. Have to fight every month and waste hours calling pharmacies. Don't understand why so difficult to obtain. Dogs need med to survive.

Hi Ellie,

I'm so sorry to hear that! Unfortunately, since Tussigon contains hydrocodone, filling the medication anywhere might be tough. There have been numerous complications with pharmacies all over the country when it comes to hydrocodone or anything similar. There is a chance that the CVS you went to may have gotten in trouble for filling prescriptions of that sort at some point in time, especially if they gave people more than they were supposed to. It's unfortunate, but there isn't much that can be done about it...Are there any other pharmacies in your area that you have worked with before?

Something else I thought I'd mention, is essential oils. There are actually lots of different essential oils that can be used on dogs for all sorts of health issues. IF you can't get the medication you need, you may want to look into alternatives that don't require a prescription.
