I have an entire bottle of augmentin pills, which were orginally going to be used for a slow antibiotic treatment over a month. My doctor told me not to do it in the end, but left me with a full bottle. Do the pills expire? ## Is it an original factory sealed bottle, or a bottle that was filled and dispensed by your pharmacy? In the original factory sealed container, they are usually good for about 3 years, since that keeps them from being exposed to the elements. Learn more Augmentin details here. If they're in a bottle from a pharmacy, which means they've been removed from the original container, then they expire a year from the date they were dispensed to you. Breaking the seal on the original container exposes them to heat, light and etc. which starts the degradation process...

I have a throat infection. I have a slight fever, feel achy and my throat is killing me. Can I use this medication? ## Hi, Lance! Sorry you're not feeling well. This is a generic for Augmentin, which is an antibiotic that's used to treat various types of infections. However, you could run into a problem if you don't actually have an infection, or if you don't have enough to take a full course of them to treat an infection, because either situation creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Hello, for a year now, I have been suffering from heavy, thick, white abnormal lotion like discharge that came on after taking augmentin. It never itches or burns, but it is extremely uncomfortable to live with. I am 26 and not sexually active. I am not over weight and eat very healthy. I have been to 9 different gynecologists and had swabs and cultures taken and all come back normal with normal ph (4.0). My latest gyno calls it leukorrhea (excessive, thick, chronic vaginal discharge of unknown origin.) She agrees the discharge is much too heavy (as have all the other gynos i've seen) and wants to put me on low dose birth control pills in the hopes that the low estrogen in the pills will dry this up. I'm afraid of this and would prefer to know other people's experience with ...

Horrible med taken for diverticulitis. 2 Mos after 825 mgs, 2 x daily, 10 day dosage: all orig side effects remain with increased intensity: burning skin/rashes, sensitivity to light/sun, severe arthritis in hands/feet, myalgia, urination frequency, unbearable back pain. The med/pharmacy community nows little about this or professing not to. My life before augmentin bears no resemblance to now. I cannot perform my daily activities .. disgusting. Have turned to acupuncture for relief .. plan to file a complaint against this med with any government agency applicable. NEVER TAKE THIS DRUG! IT MAY ROB YOU OF THE LIFE KNOWN BEFORE TAKING IT!

my doctor prescribed this medicine and I have been taking for 2 days now. I am wondering if I could drink milk with this medication? ## If there are no warnings on the bottle or the monograph you received from your pharmacy, then it's generally safe to assume that there's no need to worry about it. While some foods and beverages are contraindicated with some antibiotics, the warning about such is normally given by your pharmacy. For instance, one that I was on recently specifically said it should be taken on an empty stomach, with only water, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after any meal. If you aren't sure, then double check with your pharmacist, before doing so. Learn more Augmentin details here. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## Dealing with the augmentin 8...

I was on 1g Augmentin a day for over ten years. Now they say that was too long and that I have Crohns. Could my symptoms come from too much Augmentin for too long? What can I do? Gastroenterologist stopped the prescription but has no ideas other than treating it as Crohns. I'm not getting better after two years of Pentasa for Crohns. ## Hello, Calvin! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems you're having. Crohn's isn't known to be caused by medications, so it's doubtful that the Augmentin would have caused it and not everyone responds to the available medications, such as Pentasa. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Pentasa as possibly including diarrhea, gas, nausea and back pain. So, it could be helping and just causing side effects that are similar to ...

I have a severe tooth infection since a week. The tooth which is the source of the infection got removed today. My concern is about how to take the leftovers of my antibiotics because I have likely made a mistake in taking it. Here is the story, sorry it's a bit complicated but I hope you understand: Background: Unfortunately I had 3 different dentists due to traveling in Thailand. 04/04/2015 the first dentist gave me Amoxi 500 for 3 times a day every 8h. 11/04. the package was finished, the inflammation of my teeth didn't get much better. I have visited another doctor for removing the bad tooth. He said the former antibiotics were too weak and gave me Augmentin 1g for 2x daily every 12h. So far so good. But I didn't trust this dentist much since first he wanted to pull my t...
