Augmentin To Treat Cough

I had malaria three weeks ago and I have treated it but am still not feeling fine as I am still coughing. Can I use Augmentin to treat the cough? The cough does not bring out phlegm but it's disturbing.

My mother has had a dry cough after taking augmentin for one week for throat congestion. She was taking three 625mg tablets per day.

Augmentin will not do anything to treat a cough. It is an antibiotic that is only effective at treating bacterial infections.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

Have you consulted your doctor? They should be able to direct you to something you can safely take.
