UpdatedCould someone please tell me if Ativan can cause glazing look in the eyes?

Absolutely, it is a Benzodiapine, the same drug class as Xanax or Valium. It tends to cause an initial spaciness in people who have not adjusted to taking the med, or have recently experienced a dosage change.
These type of side effects usually wear off in about 2 weeks, give or take a few days to account for a person's individual body chemistry and the way it may process a medication.
For more side effect info and etc. here's a link to the drug monograph:

Hope that helps!
Check the Fentanyl thread for some info on generic v brand name. Verwon was very helpful to me!
Thanks Donna. I also made a new post, copying in the info from the original article where I learned the truth about generic drugs, it also has a link to the relevant law that allows such. I also explained why your doc and/or pharmacist have to lie about it, and always have to tell you the generics are exactly the same.
Ativan is a particularly strong Benzo actualy. The worst side effect is surely addiction, but I just tend to walk around like a zombie afterwards.
I would actually argue that from a few standpoints, namely biochemical, it shouldn't.
That being said, I don't know that it doesn't, and it seems that some people experience glazing of the eye while on Ativan. I could be full of it, but in my mind, it's just as likely that your body is causing glazing of the eyes as a result of either pH imbalances or neurotransmitter imbalances other than GABA. Ativan works on GABA.
In any case, i'm saying that if you hadn't experienced glazing eyes in the past and you are now, it could be the Ativan. However, if you're asking prior to taking Ativan for purposes of a job or something, don't expect that it will.
Best of luck to you
Horrible side effects and very difficult to get off the medication.

Can Ativan cause a headache? I take Ativan and have a constant headache. Wondering if Ativan could be the problem? I take 3 mg a day. Please help me. What should I do?
I take a very low dosage of Ativan, maybe .5mg the whole day, but get a bit of a headache. Is that normal and how long will it last?
Re: Diana (# 9)
I’ve been on 10 years for severe panic attacks and have never had a headache from this. Maybe you should try a different medicine for your symptoms. Headaches are awful, then you end up taking extra medicine for something else..
