For some reason I can only take the 25mg Atenonol from Sandoz, I take it to diminish heart palpitations from MVP, the pharmacy changed the manufacturer to Ateva one time
And I began to have palpitations again. So now that Sandoz is on backorder and I cannot get it filled I am
going to try Zydus. Can anyone in the pharmaceutical field tell me if it’s the same as Sandoz? Thank you

Hi Worry17,

The only difference between Zydus, Sandoz and other manufacturers is within the list of inactive ingredients, also known as binders/fillers that help make up the pill's composition.

In many cases, the quality and quantity of these "so-called inert" substances are subject to an unknown level of scrutiny by the FDA. We don't know how much oversight is involved to monitor where these fillers are sourced from, how cheap they are relative to other compounds that other manufacturers use, what benefits/risks they may carry, etc... But one thing we do know is that different binding agents affect how well our medications are absorbed and metabolized by our bodies; thus affecting how well it works. Active ingredients appear to remain constant by law, but inactive ingredients almost feel like a game of hide and seek trying to determine what they put in there and how much they put in there in proportion to the rest of the medication.

Nevertheless, working closely with your doctor along with some degree of trial and error seems to be the best approach to finding what works and what doesn't.

I hope this perspective helps and wish you good health!
