Assistance
UpdatedI was taking 100mcg of Fentora (The kind you put onyour top gum and let desolve) I was taking four pills a day. They only come in a 28 day supply. So that was four boxes a month. The cost was a little over $1600.00 month. My medicaid in SC paid for the first 5 months then suddendly said that I no longer met the criteria. I suffer from chronic lower back pain and chronic leg pain in both legs. I also take (2) 20mg. tablets of Kadian twice a day. I have had 3 back surgeries. The last one resulting in a Spinal Cord Stimulator. I have suffered since my injury 6.5 years ago and have been in Pain Management for 4.5 years. Currently I still take the Kadian and taking 10/325 Percocet 4 times a day. I just believe Medicaid thought the Fentora was too expensive. But it really does work the best of all pain medications. So my question is has anyone found a way with thier Medicaid services to pay for Fentora or has anyone found a sponsor through the makers of Fentora to help with patients to pay or get thier prescriptions. I am just now starting my long battle for disability, and would really like to find a way to get the proper meds. that I need. Any feed back would be helpful. Thank you

I can fully understand your frustration - my husband's employer switched insurance providers and now the new insurance says I do not meet the criteria for Fentora. I also was taking it for my intractable back pain that radiates through my hips and down my legs. I take other medications but they don't really help. I spent years in bed do to pain and now it appears I am back to square one on my pain management - no wonder chronic pain patients are depressed - you feel horrible all the time and finally find a medication that works and then a bunch of pencil pushers in a office just decides you don't need it. Why do we even go to doctors to be examined and diagnosed when someone can apparently just read a few lines from a form and your decide what your treatment plan should be. I am so frustrated - I am only 46 years old and now I feel like my life as being stolen from me.
If you qualify you can get Fentora though the patient Assistance program and they will send a 28 day supply for free. I would apply and see what they say. They fax the application to your doctors office they fill out part, you filll out part and then fax it ack with your income support either tax return or ss disability form. Also explain that the dr says u need it but insurance wont pay for any of it and u cant afford it. They may make u pay alittle for it. They mail you the month supply. Here is the info for patient assistance.
