Yeah I've heard countless bad things about Aspartame and Splenda. Truth be told I just stick with natural sugar or honey at his point. From what I understand (and I could be wrong) Aspartame was originally banned by the FDA, but then in the 70s Donald Rumsfeld (then head of Searle) formed a special "panel" and pushed its approval through the FDA. Not sure if I have my facts 100% straight but my policy is to avoid foods that are not found in nature regardless...
