Are the opana 40 mg ER's made to be abuse proof like the oxycontin 80mg er's? what other long acting pain meds are on the market that would compare to the oxycontin 80 mg er's?

This is no longer true as of July 2012 unless you stumbel upon an older batch. They are all tamper proof now. Take as directed.

Opana ER 40 mg is equivalent to Oxycontin 80 mg. Both are produced by Purdue pharmaceuticals and are now TRF (tamper resistant formula). Oxymorphone is the active ingredient in Opana. Just like Oxycodone is the active ingredient in Oxycontin.

As of January 2nd, Impax pharmaceuticals generic division - Global pharmaceuticals. Released Opana ER's generic medication. Also known as Oxymorphone HCL ER. This is the original formula as Opana's first revision (no TRF). I have been taking this drug for 2-months now and have phenomenal relief from it.

Currently there is a shortage of the generic since it's popularity has been awesome. I've contacted the manufacturer and they say their supply shortage should be resolved within 2-weeks. So in approximately 1-month it will be widely available at most pharmacies.

No, Opana is not made with the same formulation that the Oxycontin is, that was something specifically developed by Purdue Pharma, because the abuse of the Oxycontin and diversion has become such a huge and widespread problem.

Opana contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone, which is also a very potent narcotic and may cause side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth.

As to other time released options, there is also a time released formulation of Morphine, the name brand for it is MS Contin, though it is also available as a generic:

opana er is more of a danger if you are allergic to morphine as it is a morphine synthetic op just means that they are abuse proof

I was taking the oc 40mg er. and I cannot find them anymore and they told me that it went to op. Well I heard that the op means that it has Morphine in it. well I am allergic to morphine. Does anyone know if they are gonna go back to the generic Oc's. Thank you. My dr. is not happy about this. I found something that works and know I cannot find anyone that carries it. Please help.
