Hello, Jacky! How are you?
Yes, there is a risk of such side effects with it, but the thing you have to be aware of is that not everyone experiences them. Some people may run the gamut of all the side effects, but others may not have any. It all depends on you and your body.
Do you normally experience a lot of them?
I have been taking Lyrica for several months now and currently at 200mg a day. I have had some weight gain (aprox 10-15lbs) but the worst parts are the memory loss.. stupid stuff like word finding that should be simple and is just gone! Another issue is major hair loss.. clumps of hair falling out each time I wash my hair. Lastly is the worst issue and that is loss of ability to have orgasm. I am currently titrating down off this drug! Side effects not worth the help with pain from fibromyalgia:(
I haven't gained weight on it, and if anything it makes me less depressed. I am just worried about my teeth. They are starting to have chips and holes in them. I had the most beautiful teeth. :(
I am so worried about my teeth - I have been on Lyrica for 4 months and my teeth ache like crazy. I went to the dentist and he didn't know why - on X-ray he found that I have some new holes but he said this may be due to grinding my teeth BUT now that I have read testimony from others I am really worried. My pain doc says I can't just stop taking the Lyrica - any advice would be appreciated
I still suffer horrible side-effects from weaning myself off Lyrica. I have been through all of the horrors and would never recommend it to anyone. I have experienced severe depression, massive weight gain (I was never more than 82kgs until i took this pill for backache - i have put on 8kgs in 4 months), severe memory loss, moods, light and sound sensitivity (bad tinnitus), loss of balance, muscle ache, bad headaches, aching eyes but worst of all is the tooth ache. i dont know how they could cure jaw ache with a drug that produces such bad tooth ache. I loathe the drug and wish i had never taken it. am facing a back op rather than take any more drugs.
This stuuf( Lyrica ) is a poison, I lost 5 teeth because of this. Do not take it. The withdrawal is horrible also! Good luck.
Teeth loss should be on the side effect List. I have no aw pain since I stopped taking Lyrica. It was like coming off her ion. The stuff is poison and I want someone to pay for my dental cost!!
Get off it now! Before time sets in and you have awful withdrawals and start loosing your teeth. Abscess teeth are a side affect of Lyrica!
Side effects of Lyrica that I'm experiencing:
I'm dizzy, falling, deep deep sleep one day, wide awake and ready to go next day.
NO.
I can’t speak for everyone, but that medication was completely debilitating to me. I tried it because they told me it has less side effects than gabapentin which is absolutely not true. Furthermore I have taken oxycodone for years, and I’ve had to stop taking it at least three times in the past 10 years. Gabapentin withdrawals take longer than oxycodone withdrawals. I don’t know why they think that Lyrica is a safe medication to give people, it is more intoxicating than opioids, it doesn’t work as well, and the withdrawals take longer.
Re: Kelly (# 2)
Low dose naltrexone may help you. If nothing else it may help the hair grow back.
I take it for chronic fatigue syndrome but it made my hair grow back in the thin spots. I quit Gabapentin in 2019 and the hair didn’t start growing back until the LDN in 2020.
Re: John (# 4)
Yeah, it sucks. The withdrawals from that stuff are worse than any opiate withdrawals I’ve ever had. Just slowly wean off of it, and if you need to maybe get something to help you sleep when you’re done taking it. I also found that magnesium helped a lot.
