I am taking an Arcoxia {not sure how to spell it} at night and three ibuprofen 400mg during the day. Still waking in agony between 3 and 4 in the morning with nipped nerve in spine. Live in South Africa with no medical aid so no thought of surgery etc. Thinking of stilpane but scared to get addicted. What can I do? Ronsie

You asked for more details. Well here I am. I am a 66 year old lady living in Johannesburg in South Africa. I have been diagnosed by the doctor as having a nipped nerve in my spine. She put me on Arcoxia and iboprufen. That is three weeks ago and it has improved from the first really agonising attack but is still low level continuous pain. By three or four in the morning I have to ease myself out of bed and drink two Cataflam to enable me to doze for another hour or two on the couch with a hot water bottle at my back. Went to the chemist yesterday and the pharmacist told me I am on the wrong meds and I need med. for nerve pain. She gave me 3 Lyrica to try but not to tell the doctor where I got them from. Just low level pain today with occasional spasms. I am also taking 2 stilpane at night and try to stick to half a Ivedal 10mg to help me sleep. I feel I am overdosing but pain is very bad in the early mornings. Ache in the back but sharp pain down the outside of my left leg. Numbness nad pain spasm in left heel and today pain in left groin. Am I on the right medication? Can't afford to run up and down to the doctor and physio is out as it is crazily expensive. Anyone out there with some advice for me. Ronsie
