Appetite Issues

My elderly friend started taking Lenvatinib for his thyroid cancer. He had an operation about 6 years ago which got most of it from around his vocal cords and was cancer free until recently. He is losing some weight now since there are days where he has no appetite. He is drinking milk smoothies lately and it seems to work...he has an appetite for other things. ?? I thought I would poke around to see what people are saying about related issues.

Unfortunately, most chemotherapy medications can cause loss of appetite, and weight loss, and it is a very well known side effect of Lenvatinib, along with constipation, fatigue, high blood pressure, and nausea.

What else does he have an appetite for?

Sometimes, when it comes to people undergoing cancer treatment, it is more imperative that they eat, rather than that they worry about eating a balanced diet, since they can always be given supplements. Thus, unless his doctor feels otherwise, it might be best to just encourage him to eat what he has an appetite for, and not fuss to much otherwise.
