My doctor mentioned using a compounding company to have prescriptions tailored to your body. Anyone use them or know how it works?

Hello Karen,

According to the FDA compounding medications simply means having medication tailored to suit your personal needs. For example, let's say that you need a prescription medication that contains a blue dye that you are allergic to but this is the only brand available on the market. In this case you can have this medication compounded (created) with the same ingredients except for the blue dye.

One thing to note on is that by having a drug compounded this means that the drug is not FDA approved since it is not exactly what the manufacturer intended.

If you would like some additional information on the subject here is the link I sourced all my information from.

I hope this information helps.
