(Newest replies first)

I have been on this pill since March and only got my period the first month I was on it and it was very light and only lasted a couple of days. haven't gotten it since. I have taken tests...all negative. Any one else experiencing this?
Re: Lk (# 99)
Update on my situation. I stopped my Lo Lo around January due to insane amount of weight gain.
I went from 139 to 160 and even though I stopped, I kept on gaining the weight. My highest was 168! Yes 168!!!
I have never weighed this much in my entire life.
I’m convinced that for some folks, Lo Lo causes our bodies to create/store the fat.
I am a grain free, sugar, salt, dairy, oil free individual who works out 2-4 times a day and is on her feet for 12 hours a day. Yet I can’t shed the fat I have gained with Lo Lo.
I rather have my fibroids than 30 extra lbs is of fat.
My suggestion - if you have been at a steady weight and get on Lo Lo and gain weight rapidly, consider that this might not be the pill for you and seek something else.
Re: Cindy (# 6)
Yeah using for endometriosis treatment but I also noticed weight gain only one month and went up 5 pounds and bloated and moody
Re: Sparrow22 (# 15)
Sparrow22! Interesting that after ~4 years since your post, I found it and I am very happy and grateful for that. All what you say makes sense. It is three years now that I am on Lo Lo, and I have put on ~10-11 kg. Over the these years, the idea of gaining weight as a side effect of Lo Lo came to my mind several times, but I intentionally pushed it back because overall, Lo Lo has made my life a lot easier. Not having all the pain that my periods would bring to my life (from mood swings, to 3-4 days of severe migraines before each period would start, to 2-3 days of cramps on the first few days of my period, to heavy bleeding, to irregular periods) was really great and I think would make anything not associating weight gain to Lo Lo. Over the last two years and a half I have played with any other factor, from cutting/changing my other medications, to controlling my diet, to taking long (and heavy) daily walks... And I have kept gaining weight! Your post was a big alarm to me tonight, reminding me that maybe I have to give up all the convenience LoLo has brought to my life and stop having it. I, the woman who always struggled putting weight on, am now only 1kg far from being overweight based on the BMI measurements! :(((
I hope I can find a good replace for Lo Lo. The life was so great without having quarter of it associated with pain. :-(
But regardless of all, I am really grateful for your post. I like how you have gone over the details. I will continue your research to see what recent articles I may find on it.
My dr put me on Lo Loestrin due to uterine fibroids. I had a myectomy and had 16 oz of fibroids removed. I cannot go back to having fibroids grow the way they had nor can I consciously go on Lupron!
I have been on Lo Lo for a month and feel like a sausage! I gained weight around my thighs which has never happened to me before.
I need to keep my high estrogen low, so switching to a high dose estrogen pill is not possible.
Help!!!
Yes. I've been on it for almost a year and I stopped getting my period. At first it lasted for a few days and then nothing at all. I've also noticed that I've gained weight. I'm having tests done tomorrow.
Re: Stephanie (# 53)
Hello, this may be a little late, but once you came off of Lo Lo Estrin fe did you change birthcontrols or stop all together? also did you loose the weight you put on easily? I have gained 15 lbs in 8 months
My girlfriend switched from the depo to layolis fe. Not too long ago she just got done with her first month of treatment and still has no period. She is not eating much and is tired a lot and emotional. Is it normal not to get your period after the first month of these pills after switching from the depo? Is it also normal that she's not eating much? {edited for privacy}
My doctor prescribed Lo Loestrine FE 2 months ago to help me get through my moodiness from early stages of menopause. I have had a period most of the time (almost 8 weeks). It won't go away. I had been losing weight before starting this pill. Now I crave sweets like crazy. I've never been this bad. Weight is coming back with a vengeance. All that hard work for nothing. :( The only positive thing I have to say is that my moodiness is better. I'm thinking that it's not worth the constant period and weight gain.
I was on the pill 5 months. No periods or very light. I had a whole host of symptoms but I stopped taking it in June. All better.
I have been on this pill for 3 years havent had a period but the weight gain i cant get rid of i have tried everything and it wont go away i am a small girl and never had weight issues till i went on birth control.
Have you lost weight since you've stopped? I've been on it for about a year and almost exact same scenario as you
I have been on this OC for three and a half months. Breasts larger. Abdomen larger. Tons of weight. Irritability.
I started taking this about four months ago. I gained weight. But not only that, it seems to be redistributed. I've always had a flat chest, but… Recently, I have a full chest and even fuller abdomen -- that's something else I've never really had. I believe I'm transforming into a fertility symbol. Anyone else?
Update! I took my last pill a week ago. In this short amount of time I sleep better, no headaches, my energy has increased and no depression. I think I made the best decision. My husband is getting a vasectomy. We will use condoms until he's cleared.
I started them in January and haven't had a normal period since February. I recently went off them anyway.
Same here. I am ravenous, just binging on food now to make myself feel "better". I have gained a ton of weight. :(
I just read your post and wow. just wow. I started this pill in january '17. Ive been experiencing thickening in the middle or torso, fatigue, slight deression, weight gain. im an avid exerciser and have always been fit. this is so frustrating! im getting off this pill and never knew there was a difference in androgenic vs estrogenic estrogen. it all makes so much sense now.
I am so glad I found this post. I have been on Lo Lo Estrin for about 5 yrs and have so many of the symptoms everyone has talked about. I have always been very thin...And actually underweight my whole life and never been able to gain wait. I have put on 25 lbs since being on this pill....Majority coming in the first year. I have had crazy migraines with it, always feeling exhausted no matter how much sleep I get and haven't had a period in years...Which was a huge benefit bc I went on it for extremely heavy periods. My Dr won't renew my prescription for me bc she said my risk factors are too high (40 yrs old, migraines with aura's and family history of stroke). Last night was my last pill...So I'm feeling nervous about how bad my cycles will be after so long but at the same time kind of hopeful I will start returning to my old self...I took my final pill last night. I'm really hoping it was bc of this pill that all these things were happening to me.
Oh my goodness I started back on lo loestr in after being off of it for two years and I gained 8 pounds in three weeks! I had the gastric sleeve and cannot eat nearly as much as I used to however I am always hungry now which was not there before starting the pill again. I stopped taking it and didn't even complete the whole pack. I have been off for about three days but have started bleeding heavily and my stomach looks so bloated. I didn't have any problems on this pill before but now I feel like I don't have many options. I tried Mirena with even more horrible side effects and had to get it taken out now lo loestrin isn't good either smh.
I hope you are still on this forum! I started LoLo 2.5 years ago. I have never had weight issues until I started this darn pill. I'm on it for crazy flow, I have 5 kids and a tubal litigation with my C-section 6 years ago. I have put on 40lbs for no good reason! I eat healthy, am on the move constantly, but am the heaviest ever! I want off the pill, but my heavy flow hospitalized me 3 years ago due to bad anemia. I am terrified to go off it, but at the same point in time, I'm sick of all of this weight, and no clothing that fits. I wish they had better options for those of us over 40!!!!
