The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hello, I have been on vimpat for a little over a year. No complaints. I take 200 mg twice a day. I am wondering how long it takes to dissolve in our stomach and into the blood stream? ## Regular release medications usually take about 15 to 20 minutes to start working, after you take them. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Vimpat as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, memory loss, and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am also suffering from some depression, crying spells, lack of coordination and balance. How long will this continue? I feel like I have no quality of life right now. I am always tired and I can't do a thing. Please tell me that better days are coming real soon. I took nutritional supplement and minerals to help with the withdrawals. For over 20 years I suffer and I really mean suffer from chronic fatigue and restless legs. There is hardly any energy. And life is not very pleasurable. I know that many people do have that problem to. but there is no cure. Thanks Hetty. ## a holistic daughter prescribed my daughter Standard Process Beta Food, and it went away. Also cleanse. There's pill forms. Inquire on amazon for both ## I also have this problem. I don't have the typical restless legs so much as I have the periodic limb movement disorder and never feel rested. I also have apnea and use a c pap machine but it never has made any difference in feeling better. I just started on 300 mg gabapentin but not sure if it is going to help. So far it seems to give me anxiety upon waking. Iron is a huge connection to rest...

Hi, Im 37yr. old caucasian male. Im in methadone maintenance, and i have begun slowly taperin off it. I take 90mg methadone, 30mg oxazepam morning only, and now I tried recreational dosage gabapentin (neurontin). I learned, that for fun, its worth of nothing except poisoning own body. Dose of gabapentin was 7x300 = 2100mg. Passive smoke is impossible, and I haven eat any hemp pruducts. I blame that false positive Gabapentin.. can it really be so? ## Hi Deadboy, I am currently in the same situation! I also am treated for opiate dependency at a methadone clinic. The dr at the clinic prescribed me 300mg 3x's a day of Neurontin and I am now testing positive for thc and I DO NOT SMOKE! I have recently quit the medication and I am waiting. This my last drug screen to come back. Thus is ru...

My daughter is disabled, non verbal and has severe self hitting behavior issues. She is blind due to retina detachment. She got multiple surgeries for retina reattachment. She still has silicon oil in her eyes to hold the retina in place. From the last two years she has been complaining about some kind of pain but not sure where the pain could be. She tries to punch her head and ears a lot. She is getting treatment by doctors for pain relief but it is not helping. Right now she is getting gabapentin 900mg three times daily along with Cymbalta, Lorazepam and Trileptal. Only her sleeping issue is a little better but she is still continuously uncomfortable with pain. Doctors think it could be behavior temper tantrum attacks. Is there any other doctor who can advise us on how to improve the...

My name is Ashish. I'm 38 years old. On July 3rd 2016 I had my first seizure. Doctor suggested me to take Levipil 500 mg twice a day. For how long do I have to take this medicine? Please guide me. ## It depends on what caused your seizure, if it is due to epilepsy, you may need to take a medication for the rest of your life to prevent seizures. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, memory loss, and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi, my son is 8 yrs old and he had a seizure attack 2 times (in Jan 2015 and Nov 2016) and he is taking Levipil 500 mg, but before his second attack he had taken 250 mg, then the doctor increased it to 500mg. Could you please tell me how long this medicine should be taken for or when it should be stopped? It's been almost 2 years so far. ## If he has epilepsy, he may need to take this medication, or another one for the rest of his life to help prevent dangerous seizures. There is nothing wrong with it, so he should take it, as long as his doctor deems it safe for him to do so. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight gain. Is he on any other medications?

Is there a 100mg tablet of gabapentin? I have heard there is but have only been told or heard of 300mg or 600mg. Can you confirm this for me please? ## Yes, there is a 100 dose, it's what I started on about 12 years ago. Mine was in capsule form. ## Donna is correct. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight gain. Is there anything else we can help with?

Upon taking Neurontin, I had an immediate change in colon issues. Constant gas inflates my belly to the point it is distended. When I pass gas, there is the WORST sour stench. Every fart I've let off has been exactly the same since the gabapentin has been in my system. When I do finally have to crap, it is loose, gooey, and is impossible to squeeze off. I'm in the bathroom for way too long, trying to force it all out (major strain). Then when I wipe, I have to spend so much time trying to get the messy poop residue off my o ring. Gross but a major issue. ## You know, I've been on 1800 mg on Neurontin just over a year now, for pain in my head I was diagnosed with a psuedotumor-cerebri....I also had my gallblader out 9 months ago and since then have everything you describe, go...

I started topamax 3 weeks ago at 25 mg, then one week later up to 50. I had a severe allergic reaction. My doctor said to wean off 25 mg every other day... I'm very sick. Any advice for withdrawals and side effects? ## What type of allergic reaction have you experienced? If it was a severe one, as you said, then it is very odd that he would have you continue taking it, at all, rather than having you just stop it and switch to a different medication. Having only been on it for 3 weeks, you likely won't experience any severe withdrawal effects, while a sudden withdrawal may create a risk of seizures, according to the FDA, the can usually be mitigated by switching to a different medication that's used to treat the same disorders.

I have been on gabapentin for a about 4 months. Just in the past 4 weeks I have noticed horrible muscle pain in both legs (taking the med for nerve pain in left leg). I don't see the pain doctor until after Christmas, so was wanting to know if anyone else has experienced this, yet another, pain. ## Hi Linda, Based on my research, pain or swelling in the arms or legs is one of the less common side effects of Gabapentin. You can follow the link for more info: mayoclinic.com/health/drug-information/DR600709/DSECTION=side-effects I hope this helps! ## Thank you for the info. I take so many meds it might be hard to decide which one might be causing this new pain. I am having a spinal cord stimulator put in after the first part of the year. I am hoping I can get off all meds after that:) ...

My 16 yr old has been so depressed and agitated, not normal for him. I read in a natural health MD newsletter that 100mg would help ease it. I had some and gave it to him(I had it for depression from my doc a couple years ago but never used it). It had virtually no effect--he seemed a bit better, for awhile. But I will not experiment like this any more. What should I watch for with him? It has been ten hours.

My daughter has celiac disease and also is taking Gabapentin. Does this medication contain ANY substance that contains or is derived from gluten containing source. Is there any know adverse effects in Celiac patients as a result of taking gabapentin ## Chris, just this evening I began to check out my meds re gluten fillers. Neurontin is the brand name and DOES NOT contain gluten, whereas the generic equivalent-Gabapentin DOES use gluten as a filler. This has been found at www.glutenfreedrugs.com ## Actually, there are some generics that are gluten-free too. I also have Celiac disease and take the 300mg capsules made by Greenstone and I've never had a reaction. Once my prescription was filled with the generic from Apotex and I took one pill and felt horrible for a solid week. BTW - t...

my son (34) took 90 gabapentin (100mg) pills in a two day period. What are the side effects of this as he is also undergoing ECT treatment 3 days a week and he took that many pills before undergoing his 3rd treatment. ## Your son is undergoing ETC three times a week!? May I ask why n what for. If he's never taken the medication before then he'll feel side effects such as drowsiness, nausea, dizziness, possible seizure (s), mood change, hostility OR extreme sociability. The list is too long to list here, but those are the major side effects. The half-life of the drug isn't very long, I believe 5-7 hrs...so it may have been out of his system by the time he went.... ## @Gayle, Anyone who's taken 90 tablets of Gabapentin in a two day period should probably call poison contro...

So, I was on Topamax once before a little over a year ago for my chronic migraines, and it took away my migraines but it basically made me stupid with the knowledge of a 5 year old, and I was having complete body numbness so my doctor took me off but I never had any withdraw problems. Here I am a year later after trying various medications that were unsuccessful at taking my migraines away, my nuerologist perscribes me to Trokendi XR (which is topamax just like off brand) and he tells me that it wouldn't have as bad of side effects as Topamax... Well he was wrong because my side effects were worse. My body always felt numb and I could never feel my face. I went back to having a low IQ and I just couldn't take it anymore. I went and saw a new nuerologist at Cleveland Clinic a lit...

Can i take 500mg methocarbamal and 300mg gabapentin and what are the side effects ## Hi babygurl, According to umm.edu's drug interaction checker, there are no interactions listed between Methocarbamol and Gabapentin. However, cross referencing this on other webpages has brought up a notation about Methocarbamol and Gabapentin potentially causing an increase in certain side effects, such as an impaired cognitive function, dizziness, and drowsiness. Other than that, it seems to me like there shouldn't be any complications outside of their own individual list of side effects. Furthermore, in the event that you ever did experience these side effects (knock on wood) you can always work with your doctor on developing a dosing schedule that helps minimize this risk of interaction betw...
