No registration is required and your identity remains anonymous.I was prescribed both amox-clav 875mg and doxycycline hyclate 100mg. I read the pharmacy info that came with the medications. Both state DO NOT TAKE with the other. Why would the doctor prescribe both? ## The reason a possible interaction is warned of is because the Doxycycline and the Amoxicillin in the Augmentin can cancel each other out at some doses, so it may be like not taking any antibiotics, at all. However, you have a fairly high dose of the Augmentin (Amox-Clav). Learn more Augmentin details here. Learn more Doxycycline details here. What is your dose of the Doxycycline? ## Can I take apo-doxycycline and amoxyclav 875/125 together ## To say that they should not be taken at the same time because they may cancel each other out is not enough of an answer. You gave a partial answe...

I'm still having rash welts and hives along with an overnight visit to the hospital for shortness of breath, fever, chest pain & high blood pressure. I can't take it. I can't sleep and barely concentrate! How long will I have this rash, hives, itchy welts swollen burning on my body after I stop taking it as of now? ## Hello, Faith! How are you? Has there been any change? When I had a bad reaction to an antibiotic, it took about 2 weeks for it to fully go away, once I stopped taking it. What you've listed are all typical allergic reaction symptoms according to the FDA and I know they are very miserabl...
i've been on doxycycline for a little over 2 weeks now (100mg 2x daily) for lyme disease...about a week ago i started getting sick with what i believe is the flu (fever, chills, nightsweats, sore throat, nasal congestion, headaches, body aches, etc)..it's been 7 days of it with no end in sight...the headache is really debilitating...can i take a percocet for the headache while on the doxy? Also, is it ok to treat this with anything else (like herbs...echinasia, zinc, airborne, etc.)...I need SOMETHING (advil isn't touching it) ## first of all we are talking about a headache, so why would you take a percocet for that? i understand headaches can be bad and annoying but taking a percocet for a headache is ridiculous. percocet if for pain, like serious pain and im sorry but a he...
Been on clindamycin since Saturday evening and this is Thursday night for an abscessed tooth. It went down for a day and now has a new abscess on my gums. Does this mean the clindamycin is not working? ? Do I need a different antibiotic? Also noticed I have a boil that wasn't present until the clindamycin was in my system. Could clindamycin be the cause? ## Sometimes an abscess doesn't go away with an antibiotic and the tooth needs to be treated to drain it, or extracted entirely. However, there is a chance that this one just isn't working for you and you may need to try a different one. Have you consulted your dentist, yet? The FDA lists this medication as an antibiotic, which may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. ...

Can I take doxycycline 100mg for a toothache? I'm also taking Lisinopril 20 mg and Bupropion 75mg. ## John Docycline is not a pain reliever it wouldn't have any pain relieving properties.Ibuprophen is excellent for tooth pain it's an OTC med. ## Can I take the antibiotic for a bad tooth that is abscessed with the other two drugs? ## @John, If there's really a bacterial infection present, then killing the infection with an antibiotic makes sense and will probably help alleviate pain that the infection was causing. As to the efficacy of Doxycycline being used for this purpose, I do think there may be better options on the market. However I haven't come across any details suggesting not to take that particular drug combination of Lisinopril, Bupropion and Doxycycline. A...
Hi can any buddy tell me what kind of pill this is. It's peach. Round .on one side it's says 100 the other side has nova With no lines on on each side ## Recommend taking the pill to your Pharmacist to check positive identification. This dosage is usually taken once each day, starting one day before entering the a malaria area, and continuing daily throughout and for four weeks after departure.
I have been on this medication since tuesday (and have not experienced any side effects) when I thought my wound was infected, but it was not. My doctor gave me about 25 pills to take as a precaution to avoid it getting infected in the future. If I do not take the pills for 36 hours, will I be able to drink alcohol without having side effects? Also, what is the likelihood of my wound getting infected if I do not take the antibiotic for over 48 hours? ## Hello, Colleen! How are you? It is really best to abstain from alcohol, while taking any prescription medication. When you imbibe while on an antibiotic, it can cause worsening of the side effects, so you may experience nausea, dizziness and drowsiness. It can cause one drink to affect you as if you'd had 2 and so on. And taking a br...
I have not taken sulfamethoxazole since Wednesday. Can I safely go out and have beers Saturday night? ## According to The University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu / drug interaction tool), taking Sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim with alcohol may cause serious side effects, including but not limited to a racing or pounding heart beat, sweating, severe flushing and rapid breathing. Since everyone is different there's virtually no way of knowing if you'll still be safe (even with a few days gap), but I would speculate that if you exercise caution and drink responsibly that you'd probably have nothing to worry about. Have you discussed this with your prescribing doctor?
Hello I have been taking this medication for 2 weeks. I have been itching for the 2 weeks and have suddenly developed severe itching and hives on my whole body... can this be an allergic reaction after 2 weeks? ## Hello, Kim! How are you? I'm very sorry about the hives! And yes, many milder allergic reactions to antibiotics tend to pop up after you've been taking it for awhile, rather than right away. I found out I was allergic to Bactrim after being on it for 10 and a half days, with one dose left to go. You need to stop taking it, since such allergic reactions tend to get worse with repeated exposure to the substance and contact your doctor, you may need to try a different antibiotic and this allergy will need to be listed in your medical records. Typical side effects, as list...
I was taken Amoxicillin that my dentist Rx to me but its been 3 days now N I have developed a sore throat witch the Amoxicillin is not doing anything for. So can I stop taking that one n start with Ciprofloxacin 500 mg I have instead? ## Hello, Mindy! How are you doing? An antibiotic isn't going to help a sore throat, unless it's due to an infection. And either way, they do take time to work, improvement should be seen after taking it for a full 3 days. Learn more Amoxicillin details here. After that if there is still no improvement, you should contact your dentist, because it may not be the right antibiotic to eradicate your infection. And no, it isn't a good idea to try to treat yourself by taking something else that you have laying around. You may not have enough of it to...

Until i can get an appointment?? ## It is a broad spectrum antibiotic that can be used to treat various types of bacterial infections. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.
