I have difficulty swallowing large pills or capsules. I removed the three small pills from the capsule, crushed them, and swallowed them with jelly. Is there any problem with this method? ## This is a sustained release formulation of the medication and should not be opened and crushed in this manner, as it may result in too much of the medication being released at once. Learn more Nitrofurantoin details here. If you can't swallow them whole, then you should contact your doctor about using an alternative medication. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can I use clindamycin cream 4 months after it expired? What will happen of I use this expired medicinep ## There's actually a lot of conflicting information around the topic of expired medication, but according to a Harvard Medical School family health article, except in rare cases (i.e. tetracycline), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date. This conclusion was based upon a study conducted at the request of the US military due to stockpiles of expensive drugs they could otherwise need to replace every few years. The conclusion was that 90% of those drugs remained effective 10 - 15 years after the expiration date. But the question is whether or not the drug you have happens to be one of these drugs from the study......

After one tablet of amox-clav 875 mg, I developed shakiness, rapid heartbeat, extreme flushing of my face, and general feeling of fainting. Went to ER and after some treatment, was released. Following days, experienced extreme pain in upper abdomen area. After two more trips to ER, was admitted and underwent battery of test showing gall bladder was shot. Had surgery to remove. Could this have been caused by the amox-clav? ## It's highly unlikely that just one dosage would cause such severe damage to your gallbladder. Learn more Augmentin details here. In many cases, it may go bad due to someone having a severely high fat diet and sometimes there really is no reason, it just happens. Learn more gallbladder details here. How has your recovery been?

Can I use the grape suspension internally? I think I have a UTI. I know I have one or it may be bacterial infection. ## Just asking ## The flavored suspensions are generally intended to be taken internally, by drinking/swallowing them. They are made for children, or people that have trouble swallowing pills. However, the important factor here is whether or not you have the right dosage and if you have enough of it to completely eradicate such an infection. Learn more Bactrim details here. The best thing to do would be to consult your doctor to make sure what type of infection it is and to make sure you have enough of the antibiotic, in the right dosage, to clear it up. Are there any other questions or comments?

The root canal specialist now gave me a prescription for amoxicillin instead of penicillin - is it ok to switch over? ## There really shouldn't be a problem with it, it is fairly common to switch from one antibiotic to another, when one isn't working or isn't the right one to treat something, it may even happen if someone has a bad reaction to one. Learn more Amoxicillin details here. However, you might want to double check with your doctor just to be certain. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Thank you!
