Antibiotics And Alchohol

I am taking the antibiotic suflameth/trimethoprim. Can a have a couple glasses of wine with dinner?

It is generally not advised, because it can cause a worsening of the side effects, so you could find yourself dealing with severe nausea, diarrhea, dizziness and etc.

It's basically taking one drink and making seem as if you'd drunk two instead and so on and since the effects of the antibiotic will still be in your system, some issues may linger for a day, or two afterwards.

I am not having any side effects. I was curious if the wine would interfere in any way with the positive effects of the antibiotic. I had two glasses of red wine last night and had no adverse reactions.

On antibiotics and an still have 2 five ounce glasses of Red Wine each evening - I've had early stages of bronchitis - antibiotics seem to be working.

I drank while taking Bactrim. Not smart. It made me super nauseous.

Some antibiotics are affected by alcohol in the side effects and effectiveness. The original antibiotic, penicillin, was used to treat STIs. The advice that doctors gave about drinking was more of a precaution to not have intercourse that is more likely to happen if inebriated.
