Antabuse And Feeling Light Headed
UpdatedI have been on and off Antabuse for years. It has been amazing for me in the past as I just forget about drinking when I take it and have never experienced any symptoms. Recently my drinking has been very bad during the lockdown and so I decided to get a new prescription. I haven’t taken it for about a year now. This morning I had my first dose and 20 mins later I felt so sick, really light headed and couldn’t look at my computer screen for work. Had to lie down. That feeling lasted about 1.5 hours and the rest of the day I just feel weird. I can’t explain it - almost like I’ve been up on a drug taking bender as had no sleep! I was excited that I had made the decision to go back on them but now I’m scared that I’ll experience this every day, give up and then get back on the drink. Has anyone else experienced symptoms? Even after having the medication and having no symptoms at all?!

Hi - How long of a time was it from your last drink to taking the Antabuse?
Re: Beth (# 1)
Hi Beth , it was four days since the last drink.
Re: Skala (# 2)
Apparently, you need to wait at least 12 hours between drinking and taking Antabuse. However, the literature states that you can still have a reaction for up to two weeks from your last drink. Hope this helps.
