I am about to have surgery and I am in pain management. Should I let my pain management doctor know that I am going to have surgery? ## Yes, they should both be informed for your own safety, certain medications may be contraindicated with other medications, including anesthesia, according to the FDA. Not informing your doctors could put your life at risk, both during and after surgery. What medications are you taking?

My daughter was having her wisdom teeth removed 4 days ago. She was given 25mg. of Ketamine into her IV because the assistant said she was not settling down during the surgery. After the 15 - 20 minute procedure, she has lost all her memory. Every morning, she does not remember anything from the pervious day. ## Hello, Christine! How is your daughter doing? That is not a side effect listed by the FDA, though there is no way to know how any given medication will affect anyone that is given it, since we are all different. It has been known to cause psychosis and disorientation. Is she on any other medications? Anything for pain?

I got put on a compound containing the above meds and the top of my feet are numb and have been pretty much all day. Is this normal? ## Hello, Christie! How are you? I am very sorry about the cold sores, I know that they can be very painful, as well as embarrassing. There are several products available over the counter that can help alleviate the discomfort, including Carmex and Blistex. I'd not suggest using the Lidocaine, unless it is specifically approved to be used on the facial/oral area. Abreva is another over the counter product that can sometimes help shorten the duration of a cold sore. The NIH and FDA list cold compresses, or ice as possibly helping to relieve the discomfort, they also suggest using Orajel, Anbesol, Tylenol or Advil to help with the pain. As my ex-husband has been breaking into my home and using a drug on me and it is very scary. ## I would suggest calling the police for your own safety and protection. And if the drug you are referring to is Ketamine, it is a very strong, disassociative anesthetic, used in both people and animals. Hello, my son was prescribed Antipyrine-benzocaine war drops in 2/2015. I had it put away sealed tight I poured some in my hand to check for any discoloration and looks clear as the first day we use. He is complaining of ear pain and I was just wondering if I can still use these drops since the expiration date is for 10/2016 which is this month? ## Hello, Tita! How are you? I still bleed slightly with scorching pain near my rectum after using daflon 500mg, six daily for four days and four tablets for three days. I use lidocaine gel near the rectum. I have been disabled at a very early age, all orthopedic. Now I have been having severe stomach pains and drs are coming back with not so good blood results. This cream is used for topical pain relief and those abbreviations stand for Lidocaine, Prilocaine, Nabumetone and Gabapentin. The first two are topical anesthetics, Nabumetone is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and the Gabapentin is used to treat nerve pain. The FDA lists the typical side effects of these combinations as possibly including skin redness, irritation, dryness and rash. Is there anything else I can help with?

Apply since 2 weeks this topical cream. 3 days ago I started to experience numbness of the entire foot. It's getting more frequent by the hour. Assume this to be a side effect since I did not experience foot numbness before and it is only in the foot I am applying this cream on the right side. I've been looking for pontocain ointment but can't find it any more. Is it still on the market or has it possibly been discontinued? (if it was discontinued or taken off the market, why?
